The promotion train is full steam ahead on A Wrinkle in Time! Today we got a new trailer showing us a little bit more of the characters, but doubling down on the fact that this is Meg Murry’s (Storm Reid) story. And her story is about the strength she finds within herself to do the things that no one else can do – save her family. Strength, magic, and faith are all brought to the forefront in this adaption of the Madeleine L’Engle novel of the same name.

The trailer is a re-work of the original with some added scenes, all while blasting “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara over it. We can see that Meg is very unsure of herself. She’s shy and feels alone among her peers, especially when her father goes missing. She tells her friend and neighbor Calvin O’Keefe (Levi Miller) that she misses her father more than anything in the universe. That’s when Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) pops in to help. We’re then treated to fantastical sights of the universe along with the horrors and trials that come with it. But with Mrs. Which’s (Oprah Winfrey) encouragement of “have faith in who you are”, Meg will find the strength in herself to overcome her fears and do what needs to be done.

We also get Charles Wallace’s (Deric McCabe) first speaking appearance in the trailer. I’ve actually been fairly disappointed in Disney for casting aside Charles Wallace’s role in the story. While it is a story for Meg, it’s also his story. He’s a vital part of it. As happy as I am for more girl-power roles, it seems unfair that such an interesting and lovable character is pushed out of the spotlight for it. But that’s just my thoughts on it, tell us in the comments what you expect from Charles Wallace!

Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg’s classmate Calvin O’Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe.
