Could Finn Use a Lightsaber in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX?

Anticipation for Star Wars: Episode IX has started to simmer. In a little over the year, the sequel trilogy will be coming to an end and we will have to say goodbye to these new characters. There are many stories that will need to be (mostly) wrapped up, including Finn’s (John Boyega). With him being such a central character, what can we expect from this finale? Maybe a rematch against Kylo Ren? Another chance at wielding a lightsaber?

A fan on Twitter expressed his excitement for the film, especially towards Boyega’s character. “Hopefully my man John Boyega will truly shine in IX and the Finn character will be shown as the badass hero I’ve been waiting for him to be since VII. ..and hopefully he’ll wield a saber again..” Sure, it’s a stretch, but they did make it a big point in The Force Awakens, so why not? Well, Boyega didn’t exactly dispel that thought.

“We’ve got you in this one bro! TRUST me!,” Boyega replied. No one freak out! More than likely Boyega is referring to Finn becoming a fully formed hero we’ve watched him fit into since the beginning. Regardless of whether or not Finn gets to pick up a lightsaber again, we’re just crossing our fingers that he’ll have a well rounded story that brings justice to the character. That’s all we really want at the end of the day, right?
