A First Ballot Hall of Famer

Steve Buscemi is a national treasure who has proved himself adept at playing a wide range of characters in his long career. But if you had to boil down his onscreen presence to one word, that word (among other choices) might be simply: creepy. He’s the GOAT of weasely, smart-talking creeps, full stop. And now he’s bringing that pro-level creepiness to season 2 of Wednesday on Netflix.

A New Principal at Nevermore

Variety is reporting that Buscemi will play the new principal of Nevermore Academy. The goth-vibed boarding school where teenage Wednesday Addams danced her way to viral fame in season 1, solving some grisly murders along the way. Buscemi seems like a perfect fit for a show that is an excellent playground his sarcastic vibe and humor.

Buscemi has been garnering critical acclaim and legions of fans since his breakout performance as Mr. Pink in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. Since then he’s played one iconic character after another in roles in film and TV projects ranging from Fargo to The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. He received 8 Emmy nominations for his leading role in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and took one home for his series Park Bench with Steve Buscemi.

Not Until 2025

Based on the iconic character from cartoonist Charles Addams’s beloved comic The Addams Family (as well as the 1964 TV series and franchise of films of the same name), Wednesday follows the adventures of deadpan genius, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), as she navigates her teenage years and boarding school.

Wednesday was a huge hit for Netflix, garnering 12 Emmy nominations and taking home four. Production on Season 2 of the series was delayed due to the 2023 Writer’s and Actor’s strikes but is set to begin shooting soon in Ireland. There’s no release date for Season 2, but sometime in 2025 seems likely.
