This is the time of the year TV viewers simultaneously love and dread. The television season is coming to an end, content is exciting and constantly changing. Furthermore, the TV landscape is full of promise. New show are getting picked up on a daily basis. However, cancellations also fly like wildfire.

On Monday, Fox announced their upcoming schedule at their annual upfront presentation. Did your favorite shows make the cut?

Monday:

A few changes happening on Monday nights. Take note, GOTHAM fans. The continual power player in the Fox schedule is moving to lead-off the Thursday night line-up. Meanwhile, this promotes LUCIFER to the primary show of the night. The third year urban fantasy-esque procedural will be leading in for Fox’s hotly anticipated new drama, THE GIFTED.

The latest television spin-off of the X-Men properties, The Gifted features a supremely talented cast (Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer and Jamie Chung), and comes from the creative mind of BURN NOTICE and GOOD GUYS creator Matt Nix.

8pm-9pm: Lucifer
9pm-10pm: The Gifted

Tuesday:

Nothing too crazy to take note of here. LETHAL WEAPON is moving to make way for STAR on Wednesday nights. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE fans will be estatic to see that the popular police comedy series will be returning for another season.

8pm-9pm: Lethal Weapon
9pm-9:30pm: THE MICK
9:30pm-10:00pm: Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Wednesday:

Wednesday night on Fox is becoming Lee Daniels‘ night. The popular musical drama EMPIRE is returning for its fourth season, and will be leading in for the creator’s new show: STAR. The musical drama is set in the Atlanta music scene, and follows a trio of women who form a music group. The show features Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt.

8pm-9pm: Empire
9pm-10pm: Star

Thursday:

As noted above, Gotham will be moving to a new home (and an intimidating time slot) on Thursday nights. The DC superhero show will be opening its fourth season as a lead-in for Seth MacFarlane’s new sci-fi comedy, THE ORVILLE. The series stars MacFarlane as the captain of a not-so-stellar, interstellar, exploratory ship in Earth’s distant future. Former MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. star Adrianne Palicki also co-stars.  The series’ pilot is directed by Jon Favreau.

8pm-9pm: Gotham
9pm-10pm: The Orville

Friday:

Once again, very few changes happening here. Fans of THE EXORCIST take note that the little horror series that could will be returning for a much anticipated second season.

8pm-9pm: HELL’S KITCHEN
9pm-10pm: The Exorcist

Saturday:

7pm-10:30pm: FOX SPORTS SATURDAY

Sunday:

Sunday remains a go-to night for Fox’s programming. The night remains largely unchanged for familiar titans like THE SIMPSONS, FAMILY GUY and critical darling THE LAST MAN ON EARTH.

A new addition to Sunday night is the comedy GHOSTED. The comedy series features Adam Scott and Craig Robinson as men working to investigate paranormal and unexplained occurrences in Los Angeles.

7pm-7:30pm: NFL ON FOX
7:30pm-8pm: THE OT/BOB’S BURGERS
8pm-8:30pm: The Simpsons
830pm- 9pm: Ghosted
9pm-9:30pm: Family Guy
9:30pm-10pm: The Last Man On Earth

Looking at the network’s schedule for the coming year, the presence of sci-fi and fantasy in Fox’s line-up is impressive. Four out of seven nights feature series which incorporate genre elements. Following on the heels of ABC’s popular and critical success with its Marvel line-up, as well as the warm reception LEGION received on FX, the explosion in genre programming makes sense.

Will you be tuning into these shows next fall? Which series are you excited for?
