You better sleep with one eye open, folks. The Sandman, Neil Gaiman‘s epic graphic novel, will be in audio form via Audible this month! Gaiman posted the following on his Instagram regarding the much-anticipated audio adaptations:
In 9 days, on the 15th of July, Audible will release the first of The Sandman audio adaptations. These are, well, full cast audio books of the first three Sandman graphic novels: Dirk Maggs gave me the role of the narrator, and I gave him the original scripts, so often what I’m saying as narrator is what I asked the artists to draw, over thirty years ago.
These are very straightforward adaptations. For the upcoming Netflix TV series, we’re starting from now, and doing it as if it was being written, for the first time, in 2020.
Then, Gaiman divulged further that the impending audio adaptations will be much closer to the original The Sandman graphic novels. In total, these will culminate in 11 hours of listening time.
Now, there’s an upcoming TV series of The Sandman slated for Netflix with Gaiman at the helm. So, this particular project isn’t affiliated with the aforementioned. Maggs is serving as director for the Audible adaptations while Gaiman will be our trusty narrator.

In addition to learning that The Sandman will hit Audible on July 15th, we were blessed with a teaser trailer for the audio series. Below, you can hear star James McAvoy provide narration as Lord Morpheus while he ominously informs listeners that he silently moves through their dreams unbeknownst to them. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind that.
