The long awaited Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins series II has finally gotten a release date for July 10, 2019. The series is a collaboration between Critical Role, a live play dungeons and dragons game, and Dark Horse Comics.

The series will include six issues and be available through Dark Horse Digital and for the first time in local comic book shops! The story will continue to follow the first series, as we get to see the origins of our favorite heroes. Dark Horse Comics has brought on award-nominated writer (and fellow critter) Jody Houser to help bring the story to life alongside Matt Mercer. Olivia Samson is returning from the first series to continue her role as artist on the series. They are being joined by colorist MSASSYK and letterer Ariana Maher to bring the series to life.

We got our first look at the first issues cover art by Fiona Staples, and it looks amazing. It really fits in with the description, “Forever searching for Grog”. It will follow the group’s romp through Stilben when Grog goes missing in the night. If I remember correctly from the character’s backstories, we are in for an emotional roller coaster with this one.

This last bit of news released today switches gears for the Mighty Nein, our favorite rascals from campaign two. Later this year we are going to be getting, The Chronicles of Exandria: The Mighty Nein. The cover is all thanks to Mattero Scalera and Moreno Dinisio. The book is set to cover the first few story arcs of the Mighty Nein campaign, hopefully up to Jester tattooing little Captain Tusk Tooth’s to everyone she can get her hands on. It will feature illustrations from the Critical Role fan community alongside text by Liam O’Brien, Taliesin Jaffe, and art direction from Lauryn Ipsum. This beautiful 200 page tome will retail for $39.99.

On a side note, I want to know who is responsible for all these new announcement videos. They are on point and hilarious! You can check out the new one below as Liam O’Brien and Taliesin Jaffe talk about the upcoming comic and books.
