The devil has fallen. According to Deadline, Marvel series Daredevil has been cancelled at Netflix. The show that kicked off the Netflix-Marvel love affair won’t be renewed for a fourth season only a few weeks after the third season premiere. It joins the list of cancellations by the streaming giant including Iron Fist and Luke Cage. But fear not friends, the blind lawyer could have life in other projects.

Netflix shared their happiness with the series, though noted how painful it must be to fans. “We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note,” The undisclosed Netflix spokesperson said. “We’re thankful to our partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years.”

So far the only shows to be saved from the chopping block are Jessica Jones and The Punisher, but their fates also appear to be in the balance. While the spokesperson mentioned that Daredevil could pop up in the other shows, it’s unlikely to happen. With Marvel’s parent company Disney shifting their focus to their own streaming service, Disney+, it’s likely that the other shows will be cancelled as well. But! Having Disney+ opens the door to Daredevil making a return. Given the intense fan-love for the show, it could be revived for a fourth season on the Mouse House’s platform. Never say never!
