After a mercifully short hiatus, Quantum Leap is back on NBC this week in its new timeslot on Tuesdays at 10 pm.
We know you’ve all been desperate to know about Tom’s (Peter Gadiot) major bombshell at the end of the mid-season finale, Addison’s (Caitlin Bassett) continued dilemma over Ben’s (Raymond Lee) return and how Ben’s handling his new feelings for Hannah Carson (Eliza Taylor).

Note the handcuff on Ben’s wrist in the photo above. He’s leaped from his CIA spy host in Cairo to a more familiar career, that of a bounty hunter, just like on [Season 1 Episode 4] “A Decent Proposal.”
We Need to Talk About Kevin
His bounty is Kevin (guest star David Clayton Rogers), a chatty, slippery bail jumper Ben must protect from his gruesome demise in the original timeline. Bringing Kevin in is an adventure fraught with danger, as it’s not only law-abiding folk looking for the dapper delinquent.

Be prepared for high-speed action as Ben puts his life in danger to protect a seemingly unrepentant career criminal. Of course, Ben suspects there’s more to Kevin than his facade of radical selfishness. Addison is skeptical — and Kevin passionately denies it — but Ben firmly believes the quantum accelerator sends him to help inherently good people.
So, what is Kevin’s soft underbelly? What is his redeeming quality? Or will Ben be proven wrong?

The Buzz at HQ
Meanwhile, HQ is abuzz with the file Tom’s brought them that might hold the key to bringing Ben home. Of course, the heavy lifting for parsing out the relevant information lands in Ian’s (Mason Alexander Park) capable hands, but it’s still heavy lifting. It’s more a “when” than a “will” they find the key to solving the Quantum Leap question, but how long of a “when” will it be?
Furthermore, where did this mysterious file come from? How did Magic (Ernie Hudson) or Al not find it during the last 30-plus years? So many questions.

Ben’s potential return can only add to Addison’s turmoil. Having found the engagement ring Tom — for inscrutable reasons — hid in his kitchen drawer, does Addison see her future with him or is she still looking back to what she had with Ben?

“Off the Cuff” will keep you guessing as Ben and Kevin take the most circuitous route ever from New Jersey to New York in their attempt to evade some very nasty people. With shocking surprises in store, Season 2 resumes with a blast, a crackle and a gasp.
