Over the last month, most of the world has been in self isolation due COVID-19. We try to keep our news on Geek Girl Authority joyful and one thing that we have seen is that, for some, quarantine leads to creativity. We’re expecting the latest episode of John Krasinski’s Some Good News to drop any second now and last night’s SNL went live with a new episode showcasing all their stars doing sketch virtually while in self isolation.

Now the above examples are awesome and definitely bring the catharsis but, let me introduce you to the Heller family which decided to take making videos to a whole new level. The family did a shot by shot remake of Journey’s Separate Ways video. And…..it’s so good! I’m old enough to remember that video very well. In fact, just a few weeks ago my husband and I made my step-daughter watch that specific video because late one night, we decided to play a bunch of Journey videos because coronavirus. We giggled the whole way through Separate Ways. Not only is it a really, really great song, the video is so perfectly 80’s

Check out the video below and kudos to all the Heller kids for going 100% in this with their costumes and their commitment to recreate every emotion in the video! Double kudos to Dad Heller who brought all the feels to his Steve Perry impersonation, that shirt!. Triple Kudos to whoever cut the video.

Solitary confinement does strange things to the best of us and this quarantine was really having an effect. My wife texted me and said, “we need to remake a music video.” I thought that sounded like a lot of work, but her persistence paid off and here we are. Enjoy! ~Vimeo
