Stumble Guys

Stumble Guys is a party battle royal game developed by Scopely and released on September 24, 2020. Run through one colorful obstacle course after another and hopefully stumble your way to victory.

Gameplay

The controls for Stumble Guys are basic. On the bottom left is a button you drag to run and control the direction of your character. On the bottom right is a button that you tap to jump and double tap to dive. That’s it! Learning the controls is easy, the real challenge is navigating the crazy obstacles throughout each course, especially when going up against up to 32 other players. You can even party up with your friends and run races together.

Basic matches consist of three rounds where you race through obstacle courses or be the last ‘guy’ standing. In the first two rounds, only so many can cross that finish line so make sure to be quick about it. Ultimately, there can be only one and it is harder than it seems to grab that win.

If you like to live on the edge, Tournaments cost tickets or gems to enter and the levels are much more difficult. The stakes may be higher but the rewards are greater.

Complete daily and weekly Stumble Missions for rewards including stars, gems and coins. If you complete all of the weekly missions you get a new skin, this week featured a punk rocker with a red mohawk.

Use your winnings to collect new skins from the shop and there are over 100 of them. Unfortunately, Stumble Guys uses a blind box system so if you want a specific skin, be prepared to spend a lot of time, or money, to get it.

Stumble Guys Events and Season Pass

Stumble Guys has events that feature some pretty beloved franchises. For example, last season was Dungeons & Dragonsthemed and featured things like skins based on popular D&D classes.

This time around, the season features none other than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There is even a sewer-themed obstacle course called Turtle Tumble that would make any TMNT fan happy. Unfortunately, most (if not all) of the themed rewards are locked behind a paywall. Cue the sad trombone riff.

You can purchase a stumble pass for even more rewards though it will cost you $7.99. The premium pass gives you levels, featured items and no ads. Everything in the shop is a little too expensive for my taste but that is ok because you can earn plenty of rewards just by playing the game. Besides, they are just skins and you don’t need them to play.

There are also limited-time events like Smokin Hot which features three fire-themed courses or Clash where you dash through oncoming tetromino-style blocks.

Our Adventure Ends Here

If you have played Fall Guys there is nothing new to you here. Stumble Guys is essentially a generic mobile version of Fall Guys. Since Epic Games has not released a mobile version, this is the best we can hope for (for now). Fall Guys is one of my absolute favorite games so I am glad to at least have something similar to play on my phone.

The Stumble Guys controls are a little loosey-goosey and take some getting used to. It is very easy to accidently walk off a ledge which is frustrating because that can cost you a win.

Overall, Stumble Guys is a colorful, cute and fun game to have in your pocket. The best part is, you can play with your friends. Here at Mobile Game Monday, we love a good multiplayer game. So grab your friends and see if you can stumble your way to victory.
