It seems, even as the devil himself, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) can’t get any privacy from his meddling mother (Tricia Helfer).

Previously on Lucifer: After somehow escaping hell, “Mum” finds her way to Los Angeles, and stumbles back into the life of her reluctant son.

Lucifer is the King of Hell. The Prince of Darkness. Nothing can cramp his style, or can it? After her reappearance, “Mum” has turned into that houseguest most impossible to get rid of. A mother. To make matters worse, she’s a mother getting in touch with her new humanity, and she has no filter whatsoever.

Luckily for Lucifer, murder calls. The victim, Nicholas Sands (Matthew MacCaull), was found chained to a post, his body nothing more than a charred corpse. Much to Chloe’s (Lauren German) horror, and Lucifer’s chagrin, the highest concentration of accelerant was centered around his crotch. Thus, leading to some amazing puns. “Great balls of fire!”

However, the killer isn’t done. The second victim, (Tarun Keram) was bound, gagged, and choked to death on an unpleasant number of apples. It begins to look like they’ve themselves found a serial killer. While he was an assistant at a local bank, the victim had some noted proclivities towards S&M. At least, judging by the tell-tale video found on his phone.

Due to the technological scope of the murders, our intrepid investigators find themselves at Wobble headquarters, interviewing the content moderators. These people see all of the questionable material to come across the Facebook like website. As such, they are the most likely suspects. It’s definitely an inside job.

At the same time, Chloe and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) are having their own on-going relationship troubles. After his demotion, Dan is struggling in his new role, and this is beginning to effect his relationship with Trixie (Scarlett Estevez). The couple are butting heads over an upcoming family camping trip. With the hope of them reuniting beginning to fade, Dan and Chloe figure out that they are moving in different directions. They finally decide that the relationship, which they have been trying hard to salvage, isn’t working.

Meanwhile, conflict is bubbling over in Team Lucifer. Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) is butting heads with “Mum.” The older woman, while having no filter, also has no boundaries. She’s encroaching on Maze’s territory, and threatens the demon’s close relationship with her former boss. At the same time, Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) is struggling through a multing crisis of his own. As such, the sudden reappearance of his Mother is jarring to say the least.

Finally, Mum receives her punishment from Lucifer. She must remain on Earth and live as a human. This is the only way she can get to know her sons. As she walks home, a mugger jumps out, demanding her money or her life. With a surprising show of force (and a desire to keep her money), she throws the robber against the wall, killing him. As the episode ends, Mom continues to surprise.
