J.J. Abrams will direct Star Trek 3. No he won’t. Okay then, Roberto Orci will direct Star Trek 3. No he won’t. The fans say Jonathan Frakes. Nope! Alright, we’ve got it this time, The director of Star Trek 3 is…… Justin Lin! Correct.

Justin Lin has directed several blockbusters including a few from The Fast and Furious franchise. He’s also directed several big television shows including upcoming True Detective season 2 and Scorpion.  According to IMDB he is set to direct a Highlander re-boot.

Well then, Star Trek 3 is definitely going to action-packed. Looks like Lin has got that down. I look forward to see if he loves the Star Trek canon as much as Abrams and Orci and we get a great film to add to the Star Trek legacy.

Abrams is still involved in the film as is Bad Robot. Orci is also still on board as a producer. Paramount hopes to release this film in 2016 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. They better get moving!!!
