Doctor Who Season 2 Episode 4, “Lucky Day”
Ruby Sunday is back, baby. Millie Gibson, who plays the Fifteenth Doctor’s (Ncuti Gatwa) first companion in Season 1, has returned for Saturday’s Doctor Who episode. Presumably, this means Ruby will meet Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu), the eponymous Gallifreyan’s current companion.
Here’s a brief synopsis of “Lucky Day” per Disney:
“Ruby Sunday faces life back on Earth without the Doctor. But when a dangerous new threat emerges, can Ruby and UNIT save her new boyfriend, Conrad, from the terrifying Shreek?”

The Cast and Crew
Episode four stars Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, Varada Sethu as Belinda, Millie Gibson as Ruby, Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Jonah Hauer-King as Conrad Clark, Alexander Devrient as Colonel Ibrahim, Ruth Madeley as Shirley, Benjamin Chivers as Young Conrad and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Peter Hoar directs from a script by Pete McTighe. Hoar was also at the helm for the Season 2 premiere, “The Robot Revolution.”
A Teaser
In the teaser trailer released after episode three, “The Well,” we see Ruby and Conrad bonding. Carla notes that Ruby hasn’t had a boyfriend “in ages.” After that, the Doctor and Ruby reunite, with the former informing the latter that certain “pheromones” mark Ruby as prey. Ruby insists the Shreek is after our Time Lord, while Conrad reassures her that they’re a team — just like her and the Doctor.

Additionally, the Doctor and Belinda meet a young Conrad, so he must be integral to the central threat in “Lucky Day.” Furthermore, in one first-look photo, Conrad casts a furtive glance while his hand is on the door to the TARDIS. Is there something else brewing beneath Conrad’s seemingly affable surface?
The Mrs. Flood of It All
Then, in another image, our titular Time Lord adjusts the Vindicator to get another reading, hoping this will bring him and Belinda one step closer to taking her home to May 24, 2025. Speaking of May 24, could we see Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson) in “Lucky Day”? She’s appeared in all three episodes of the season thus far, so it’s not out of left field to assume she’ll show up again.
Doctor Who Season 2 airs on Saturdays at 3 am EST/12 am PST on Disney+ and 8 am BST on BBC iPlayer in the UK. Before you go, check out the 12 new photos and brief teaser below:
