Ok, I gave you fair warning…

Rick Grimes Lives!

And his story is not over. TWD franchise Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple announced on Talking Dead that Rick’s story will continue in a trio of AMC original films.

Rick Grimes final episode ended with a shocking explosion and everyone believing that Rick was dead. He actually fell into the river and washed up on the river bank. Rick was then saved by Anne, better known as Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh). Jadis was working with the people in the helicopter. The chopper picked the two up and flew away to an unknown destination. The movies will give fans a chance to find out who these people are and where they are taking Rick.

“It’s going to show a different corner of the world. It’s going to show a different situation that Rick is involved in. These are going to be shown on AMC, but they are going to have the scope of featured films.” –  Gimple

Expansion

In addition to Rick’s stories, Gimple mentioned they will be exploring more of the TWD universe aside from Rick’s story and the stories we are following on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. “You’re going to see characters that are dead and gone…we’re going to see different stories of future characters…we’re going to see all around the world. And we’re going to see the past, the future…”

This season has been quite a roller coaster ride. This show knows how to pull on my heart strings like no other and there was something definitely in my eye.  I was a bit frustrated that we never got the story about the helicopter, but now I’m excited to see where Rick takes us next.

Until then, thank you Andrew Lincoln for a great 9 years!

The Walking Dead continues, minus Rick Grimes, on Sundays on AMC.
