Episode 6 of Syfy’s Dark Matter had us finding out a lot more of who the crew members are on the Raza – through brain probe stuff! Plus, there was more David Hewlett.

Talbor Calchek (Hewlett) is upset because the amnesiac crew blew the last job with the contagion/immortality drug ship. So the crew needs money. Five suggests they probe her mind since she holds everyones memories. She makes the good point that if they don’t start remembering, they’ll just make the same mistakes over and over again.

So, she goes into brain probe land, gets caught up in there and Six goes in to get her out (kinda like that movie The Cell). Here’s the what we found out in memory recall land:

Four is the son of an emperor. He was trained hard in martial arts. Turns out he’s actually not responsible for the Emperor’s assassination like he thought – it was the Empress. She didn’t want Four to become Emperor and framed him.

-Five was living with a bunch of street kids stealing money from marks. Five unfortunately stole a data card (remember the one she told Android about?) from a bad person who then killed all her friends. She and a boy who’s injured (the one who was found dead on Raza in a previous episode) stowed away on Raza.

-Six was part of a rebellion and was doing his insurgency thing as a respectable participant but one of his crew, under orders from “The General” killed 10,000 people when stealing a Galactic Authority ship. Six went crazy and killed a bunch of comrades. Now that he knows this, he wants to find this General.

-Five was in a memory of a perfect life on a farm. It was a young boy’s memory so she thinks it’s One. I’m kinda wondering if they’ll switch it around and make it Three’s memory. It would make a great story if Three went from having an idyllic farm life to being a thieving scumbag.

And there you go. The use of the dream/memory probe was a great device to find out a bit more on who the Raza’s crew are. The puzzle pieces are coming together nicely. I’m very happy with finding more about Four. He’s still my fave character right now.

Up next on Dark Matter: Three’s past becomes present while a new android (Ruby Rose) proves looks can kill.

Dark Matter is on Syfy as part of their Syfy Friday line up at 10 PM and also on theSpace Channel.
