So wait. Wait wait wait. Fred “The Blob” Dukes is in X-Men: Apocalypse? Seriously?

It’s not confirmed, but according to the Instagram account of benofk_funko (Benjamin Malartre Bureau), he was invited to spend a few days on the set of Akkaba where he spent “4 crazy days with Ben Hardy, Jennifer Lawrence, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Nicholas Hoult and “with also #blob too.”

Again, not confirmed, but The Blob was apparently on set. Since we’ve heard nothing about the casting or the character, it’s safe to assume that the role is not a very large one and that, in fact, he’s most likely just in a couple scenes, similar to how they used Colossus in the second X-Men film.

It gets even better though. The last time we saw the immovable object that is “The Blob,” was in Gavin Hood’s 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he was played by Kevin Durand wearing a fat suit and prosthetics. The dude supposedly playing The Blob for X-Men: Apocalypse is just a legitimately big dude. In the Instagram comments, Benofk_Funko says the Blob is played by “a French Canadian dude 540 lbs (ons solid big fat guy).

For those of you unfamiliar with the character, Blob, aka Fred Dukes, has the mutant power to be virtually immovable. On top of that, his naturally blubbery skin absorbs most hits, including bullets, making him more-or-less impenetrable.
