My sister, Constance, had the chance to hang out at New York Comic-Con last week and had a blast. She made it to some interesting panels and got a some cool pictures of the amazing cosplay as well!

There was a variety of panels covering all genres, and I will admit, I did suggest this first one that she covered. I’m a big fan of Andre The Giant, a slight crush you might say, so Constance indulged me and then indulged in some free Moscow Mules the con was offering, and these are a few of her favorite moments.

Andre the Giant: Man behind the Legend

For those nerds who also happen to be into wrestling, chances are you are a fan of Andre the Giant. And as luck would have it New York Comic-Con had the perfect panel for you! We got to sit down at the panel with Shannon Eric Denton, editor of Lion Forge’s new authorized graphic novel about Andre, and Andre’s daughter Robin Christensen Roussimoff!

Let’s take a look at our top 5 things from the panel!

1. Robin Christensen Roussimoff’s no nonsense attitude about her father and previous work about him. She hasn’t been happy with the work done so far so she has had a real hands on involvement in the up and coming Andre the Giant: Closer to Heaven graphic novel coming out.

2. Wrestle Mania III (Andre vs. Hulk Hogan) portrayal of making Andre into the bad guy tickled Roussimoff a little stating that “[Andre] was even a guest at Hogan’s wedding…they were good friends”.

3. Getting to see some of Denis Medri’s art work for the new novel :

4. Learning that Andre loved filming The Princess of Bride. “It was probably the calmest point of his life.” says Roussimoff  “The cast treated him like he was a normal guy, instead of just the biggest guy in room.” So acting, not wrestling, gave Andre, peace. Here’s a sweet behind-the-scenes of The Princess Bride.

5. Robin Christensen Roussimoff’s favorite wrestler is….THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR!! That was cause for a lot of laughs throughout the panel.

Next on her Thursday schedule, Constance headed to a favorite of hers, the Attack On Titan panel for some big news!

The Biggest Attack on Titan Announcement, Ever!

Artwork by Tomer Hanuka

As a huge fan of Attack on Titan I was thrilled that New York Comic-Con was hosting a panel with them, and that the panel itself was called “Big Announcement”! Although, with Attack on Titan could you really have anything but BIG! I got in line an hour early and still almost didn’t make it inside. Here are my top 5 favorite moments about the panel.

1. Starting off with a mini announcement: Attack on Titan Volume 17 is coming out in December! Long awaiting fans, like myself, are so excited to find out what comes next for our heroes, and to find out more about our Titans!

2. The stellar panel of artists and creators that got to talk about what drew them to the Attack on Titan universe. I am talking about moderator, Ben Applegate Director of publishing and the Editor of the Attack on Titan English edition and panelists, Genevieve Valentine (Catwoman), Brenden Fletcher (Batgirl), Jeanine Schaefer (Assistant Editor for Marvel Comics) and Afua Richardson(Captain America and the Mighty Avengers). Just like the manga they left a shroud of mystery when it comes the universe and what the fans can expect from the story.

3.  I cannot go much further without the mentioning the biggest announcement for the manga…….The Attack on Titan Anthology will be coming out fall of 2016, of which all the panelists are contributing art and stories.  This was the most exciting part of the whole panel! I can’t wait to see where these stories will take us.

4. Getting some sneak preview of the artwork that is going into the Anthology and some even sneakier peaks at some story lines, for example Bringing back Eren’s mom. Or resurrecting her, but as a Titan…Yikes!

5. The best part was all of the answers the panelists were giving out. Each one a cliff hanger of sorts, giving enough of an answer about the universe to catch us but still leaving us all on the edge of our seats. Where do the Titans come from? What is in the basement?  Where do the people beyond the wall live? Can’t wait for more!
