Adventuring? Using creativity? Fun problem solving with newfound friends and old? This is what kids from ages 11-15 can access with The Academy of Adventures Afterschool Program. With this new online offering, kids can learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons from the comfort and safety of their own home.

The Academy of Adventures Afterschool Program brings kids together using Zoom and D&D Beyond. Young adventurers are empowered to tell their own creative stories, work together to solve problems, and find grand adventures with their very own team of heroes. There are three adventures available: Season of the Cartographer, Season of the Destined Dark and Season of the Winter Wolf.

According to the website, “Each Season is a brand new adventure, allowing your young hero a new challenge over the course of five weeks of online D&D excitement. Camps are offered once a week, with times available each weekday at 4-6pm Eastern and 4-6pm Pacific.”

The Academy of Adventures launched this past summer with a successful eight-week summer camp for 150 young heros. Founder and gamemaster Richard Malena leads the program. He’s been playing D&D since 1993 and has played every single edition. Malena is a seasoned gamemaster and has GM’d D&D and other RPG games for friends and stranger of all ages. He’s also been teaching kids since 1994, is an expert in game theory and, as he states in his bio, has taught “every math class you can think of.” He knows his stuff.
