We hear The Wilderness, and It hears us.
It’s hard to believe that Yellowjackets Season 2 ends this week. It seems like only yesterday we reunited with our favorite cannibal murderers in the past and present. So far, Season 2 has been a whirlwind of plot twists, powerhouse performances, high-stakes action, mind-bending supernatural elements and various scenes featuring Jeff rocking out to car jams. (We adore one Papa Roach-loving himbo.)
Additionally, we watched teen Shauna give birth and lose her baby in one fell swoop, Taissa and Van reunite in the present timeline, Lottie’s therapy session with the Antler Queen, Crystal’s and Javi’s tragic demises and the beginning of the teens’ ritualistic hunts. I’ve been enjoying the ride thus far. Here’s hoping the season finale sticks the landing.
In honor of said season finale, here are my eight predictions for how things will shake out.
Nat Won’t Tell Travis About How Javi Died
In typical Yellowjackets fashion, we can add one more secret to the ever-growing pile: Javi’s (Luciano Leroux) death. Well, more like how he died. I can’t picture Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) disclosing to Travis (Kevin Alves) that she almost saved Javi, only for Misty (Samantha Hanratty) to remind her the others would kill her if she does. The feral and perpetually starved teens believe Javi’s death is The Wilderness “choosing” to accept his “sacrifice” over Nat’s.
My guess is Nat believes telling Travis the truth will only pour more salt into the wound, especially after she persuaded Travis to stop looking for Javi when he was actually alive. Javi’s death will undoubtedly deepen the trauma bond between them, too.
Nat might not divulge specifics, but I think someone else in the group will. Perhaps someone like Van (Liv Hewson) who’s more prone to honesty. That could create a sizable chasm between Nat and Travis.

Walter Will Kill Saracusa in Front of Jeff
Listen, Saracusa’s (John Reynolds) got to go. Walter (Elijah Wood) emailed the Wiskayok police department claiming he had relevant information about their Adam Martin investigation. The seeds have been planted. He firmly believes adult Misty (Christina Ricci) killed Adam, and because he’s smitten, he’ll do anything to protect her. Before departing his home, he grabbed a purple coat, so he’s making a beeline for Lottie’s purple people compound.
I predict Walter will kill Saracusa at the compound in front of Jeff (Warren Kole). It would explain why they interact in the episode nine promo clip. Jeff will help Walter move Saracusa’s body. Kevyn (Alex Wyndham) might also make his way to the compound, maybe after learning about Saracusa taking matters into his own hands again.
As for how Saracusa winds up at the compound, I think he’ll follow a certain duo as they travel there.
Jeff and Callie Will Travel to Lottie’s Compound
Jeff and Callie (Sarah Desjardins) will pay Mommy Dearest a visit after their chat with the police. They’ll fill Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) in on what transpired and stumble upon the adult Yellowjackets’ weird hunting ritual. Sure, Jeff read Shauna’s journals, but I don’t think she put everything in there. He certainly wouldn’t know about “It,” aka The Wilderness entity, resurfacing in the present timeline. Jeff’s ardent devotion might be pushed to its limits in the season finale.

Travis Won’t Eat Javi, but He Might Dream About It
There’s one moment in the promo featuring Travis as he’s consuming what appears to be human body parts. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene, but a powerful one nonetheless. Part of the mystique of this series is discerning what’s real and what’s fantasy, especially as the teens descend further into starvation-fueled psychosis. We’ve seen several of them experience visions or reality-breaking hallucinations at one point or another.
Travis potentially dreaming about eating Javi wouldn’t be far-fetched. I can’t see him participating in the inevitable cannibalistic feast despite The Wilderness giving the group their next meal. The sheer moral no-no of consuming his brother might break through Travis’s hunger-stricken mind. I can picture a disturbing dream sequence, though.
The Adult Yellowjackets Will Change Tactics
Episode eight ends the adult timeline with Lottie (Simone Kessell) suggesting they put their lives on the line with a rousing game of Wilderness Russian Roulette. She presents six beverages to the group, with one of them spiked with a phenobarbital solution. She believes they must give themselves entirely to The Wilderness to escape their demons.

However, in the promo, Shauna declares they should do it like they used to, as in the hunt we saw in 1996. So, I believe they’ll bust out the cards, and whoever chooses the Queen of Hearts will be on the chopping block. It also looks like Lottie, Shauna, Taissa (Tawny Cypress), Van (Lauren Ambrose), Misty and Nat (Juliette Lewis) don the animal-like masks à la the ones we saw in the pilot. Things are about to get real Wilderness-y, folks.
Nat Tells Ben He Doesn’t Belong To Ensure He Steers Clear of the Cabin
In the Season 2 finale promo, teen Nat tells someone they don’t belong. I’m assuming this is directed at Ben (Steven Krueger), the only one in the cabin who didn’t participate in the Snackie feast and refrained from hunting Nat. Ben is also the closest to Natalie. Besides Misty, she’s the only one who knows he’s gay. And, if you recall, Nat and Ben discussed Javi’s symbol tree, so she at least has an inkling of where he went. I think Nat will discover said tree and Ben inside of it. We might even meet Javi’s “friend” who kept him alive for two months. (My guess is this “friend” is related to Cabin Daddy.)
Nat will fill Ben in on the group hunting her and Javi’s death. Then, she’ll urge Ben to avoid the cabin to protect him. Nat knows the crew is on a slippery slope into Hungry Madness Territory, especially with the inaugural hunt in the books. It’s only going to go downhill from there. She’ll attempt to keep Ben safe by suggesting he stay in his tree.

Lottie Has Initial Doubts About the Hunt
While teen Lottie (Courtney Eaton) has become a symbol of hope for most of the cabin, she won’t be 100 percent on board with hunting people when she learns about Javi’s death. Sure, she possesses the makings of a bona fide cult leader, but even she has boundaries. It would explain Misty’s chastisement in the promo. My hope is we see a bit of pushback from Lottie. That conflict could yield fun narrative fruit, primarily if Misty staunchly defends the cabin’s decision to hunt. Of course, Lottie will inevitably fall in line and continue leading the group (presumably as the Antler Queen?); however, she might have initial doubts.
Nat Draws the Queen of Hearts Card Again, but Lisa Dies in Her Place
Lisa (Nicole Maines) has slowly become a friend to Nat, making this next prediction all the more impactful. I believe Nat will again draw the Queen of Hearts card in the adult timeline. Who doesn’t love a good history-repeating-itself moment? Once Lisa understands what’s happening, she’ll try to save Nat. She’ll also learn more about “Charlotte” and the Yellowjackets. Lisa wouldn’t sit idly by and watch her friend become hunted by five middle-aged women who, let’s face it, can be terrifying, and have had practice murdering people.
Unfortunately, as we’ve learned in the past, The Wilderness craves balance. A life for a life. We don’t quite understand the parameters of The Wilderness, nor does it seem to have hard and fast rules, but trading one life for another appears to be its modus operandi. Lisa will take Nat’s place. I hope I’m wrong.
