Yellowjackets Season 3 Episode 2, “Dislocation,” sees Callie dig for the truth at an impromptu sleepover with Misty and Lottie. In the Wilderness, Travis hones his connection to It, but it comes at a cost. Shauna and Melissa kiss. This scene is seamlessly intertwined with Adult Shauna discovering the identity of the missing phone owner and potentially the woman who left the envelope on her doorstep. All in all, it’s a fun episode that propels the narrative in an exciting direction and boasts terrific performances.

Yellowjackets, “Dislocation”
We open with Mari (Alexa Barajas) in the pit as Ben (Steven Krueger) stands above her. Always the coach, he coaches her through popping her dislocated knee into place. Ben vows not to kill her. Meanwhile, Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) digs up her baby and moves him to a different grave of her choosing. At the camp, the teens realize Mari is missing. Nat (Sophie Thatcher), our Antler Queen, wants Shauna to accompany her on a search, but, in typical Shauna fashion, she’s all, “F*ck Mari.”
Travis (Kevin Alves) tells Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Van (Liv Hewson) that he knows enough of the area to help them find Mari. However, Lottie (Courtney Eaton) wants him to drink more shroom tea. He’s connecting with the Wilderness and must go deeper into that connection.

An Unexpected Visitor
In the present timeline, Adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) makes green juice for Jeff (Warren Kole) before work. She claims she wants to reclaim a sense of normalcy. Jeff reminds her of the dinner they’re attending that evening for a swanky hotel that Jeff hopes to furnish. It would be a lucrative collab for his business. Suddenly, Adult Lottie (Simone Kessell), fresh out of psychiatric holding, winds up on the Sadeckis’ doorstep.

Shauna and Jeff order Lottie to leave. Callie (Sarah Desjardins) reunites with her, too. Lottie doesn’t have a home to return to — she lost the compound and her followers. Shauna conducts a family meeting. Callie makes a case for Lottie to stay with them. Isn’t forgiveness important? Shauna and Jeff reluctantly allow it, but only for the night.
Meanwhile, Adult Van (Lauren Ambrose) sings karaoke on the couch. Adult Taissa (Tawny Cypress) enters, enjoying Van’s performance. While they get kissy and cozy, Van steps on a glass cup while barefoot. Tai removes the shard of glass from the sole of Van’s foot, but she encourages the latter to go to the doctor. Tai offers to go to the restaurant to settle up with the server following their dine and dash the night before. Shauna calls Tai, but she ignores it.
“Friends”
Then, we see Adult Misty (Christina Ricci) in her adorable bee pajamas. Buzz, buzz. Walter (Elijah Wood) presents her with breakfast in bed so she can nurse her hangover. Shauna calls Misty, asking if they can meet at 6 pm. Walter addresses the elephant in the room — Misty’s “friends” only contact her when they need something, but it’s radio silence when she’s in need.

In the ’90s timeline, Nat and Misty (Samantha Hanratty) search for Mari. Misty offers a shoulder to cry on should Nat need it since she and Travis broke up. Nat is seemingly anti-Ben now. Misty asks Nat if she believes Ben burned down the cabin and if he’s dead. Nat insists she and Ben barely spoke to each other. It’s abundantly clear Nat’s lying to throw the others off her scent. Otherwise, they’ll detect her sympathy for him.
Meanwhile, Mari stumbles to her feet after fixing her dislocated knee. She notices Ben is gone. Mari calls out that she doesn’t believe he burned their home — a tactic to get him to help her. Ben insists he didn’t know the cabin burned; he merely wanted to get as far away from the teens as possible. Interesting.
It Doesn’t Want to Be Governed
In the present, Misty arrives at the Sadecki house and reunites with Lottie. Shauna asks Misty to keep Lottie away from Callie while she and Jeff are out. Back in the ’90s timeline, Nat spots one of Ben’s traps. She tries to distract Misty from it, but the latter spots it anyway. Elsewhere, Tai and Van search for Mari. Tai finds it odd that Nat wouldn’t let anyone look for Ben. What kind of message does that send? Van wonders if Tai would be a better leader than Nat. “It doesn’t want to be governed,” Van adds.

Suddenly, they hear Travis scream. As Van and Tai arrive at his location, they see Lottie attempt to comfort Travis while he’s on all fours, still yelling. “They’re coming,” he declares. “It’s trying to get inside me.” Lottie insists that It doesn’t want to hurt him. Travis straddles Lottie and wraps a hand around her throat, demanding to know what Lottie wants with him. Tai and Van pull Travis off her. Tai confronts Lottie about her methods. Lottie brushes this off, claiming Travis is just learning to hear It.
In the present, Tai returns to the restaurant to pay up. She notices a framed picture of the server who chased them. It’s surrounded by candles. The employees there reveal that the waiter had a heart attack in the middle of his shift on the street. It dawns on Tai why. One server grabs the manager, and they try to flag down Tai as she flees (again).
Sleepover
Meanwhile, Lottie tells Misty that Nat’s death went as intended — this is what the Wilderness wanted. Ew. She asserts it wasn’t her or Misty’s fault. Misty organizes the cabinets in the kitchen to pass the time. Callie barges into the kitchen, believing they should all hang out. Why not have a sleepover? Lottie is game as Callie busts out the alcohol. Misty is reluctant, though. That said, she’s never been to a sleepover. Misty takes her role as Callie’s guardian very seriously.

Next, Shauna and Jeff are at dinner with the hotel fellas. Jeff makes a case for why they should consider furnishing their hotel with his furniture. Pretentious dudebros aside, Jeff is in his element, y’all. At the Sadecki house, Misty and Lottie wear face masks. Callie proposes they play Truth or Dare. Callie wants answers about that night at Lottie’s compound, but first, she spikes Misty’s alcohol with allergy medication. Yum.
Callie asks them point-blank if they planned to kill her mom. Lottie claims it was all to offer the Wilderness what It needed. Callie dares Misty to chug her allergy alcohol, and Lottie dares Misty to slash her dad’s tires. Misty chooses the medicated booze. Then, Callie asks her next question: Did the survivors eat each other in the Wilderness? Lottie and Misty insist the gossip isn’t fact. That rumor originated after they were rescued. Misty passes out cold after the meds hit.
Ben and Mari
In the ’90s timeline, Ben pulls Mari out of the pit with a rope. After this, he uses one of his crutches to knock Mari off her feet. He binds her wrists with the rope. Ben can’t let Mari tell the others about his location. He knows he’s next on the lunch list. Ben claims he needs time to think about his next move, so he blindfolds Mari before taking her on a walk.

Then, in the present, Tai wanders into a small church, making a beeline for an outdoor ofrenda. She tosses the matches she acquired from the restaurant onto a lit candle. Perhaps this is an offering to honor the waiter who she indirectly killed? Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Shauna calls Misty for an update on Callie. Of course, Misty doesn’t return her call. Shauna heads to the bathroom.
While in the stall, she hears footsteps approaching her and a shadow lurking outside the door. Then, the lights switch off. Shauna puts her keys between her fingers and holds up her phone with the flashlight on. She slowly emerges from her stall, ready for a fight. However, she’s alone. Shauna discovers a phone in the next stall. It has a missed call from an unknown number. Shauna takes the phone to the bartender.
You Painful Little Boner
After Shauna returns to the table, the hotel dudes reveal they’re hesitant to collaborate with Jeff, who’s “small-time” in the furniture business. Shauna comes to his defense, effectively putting them in their place. “You painful little boner” is my new favorite insult. Shauna, you icon. Shauna claims Jeff is too good for them before they leave.

Later, in the ’90s timeline, Akilah (Nia Sondaya) gives Travis Mortimer — a duck — to hold. I want an emotional support duck. Lottie approaches with more shroom tea. Travis admits he feels terrible for trying to hurt her. Lottie wants Travis to get high again. They must understand what It wants from them. However, Travis confesses that the Wilderness doesn’t want him. In fact, Akilah is more closely connected to It because the animals trust her. This gives Lottie an idea.

Nat and Misty return without Mari. Misty pulls Shauna aside to disclose a secret: Nat might know Ben’s whereabouts. Shauna orders her not to tell anyone.
Do You Have a Problem?
In the present, we see Callie braiding Lottie’s hair while they watch trash TV. Shauna and Jeff return from the restaurant. Naturally, Shauna’s pissed that Misty isn’t at her post. She finds Misty passed out in the kitchen. Misty wakes and vomits on the kitchen island. At the same time, Tai and Van reunite in the kitchen. Van claims her foot’s all bandaged up, while Tai tells her that the restaurant business went smoothly. Of course, she omits the details about the server dying that night.

Next, Walter fixes Caligula’s cage when Misty stumbles through the doorway. She’s still drunk from Callie’s alcohol and allergy med cocktail. Walter is furious that Shauna let Misty drive home in her condition. He insists that her friends aren’t really her friends — which is true. Misty hates that Walter (in her eyes) incessantly fusses over her. She gives him the boot.
Ben takes Mari to his cave. It looks like he’s not in that hollowed-out tree where Javi was for three months. Mari clarifies that they didn’t kill Javi; they just ate him. Now, things are going well for the teens. Tai built shelters for them. Akilah’s raising ducks. Gen hunts. Ben gives Mari hot chocolate from his MRE rations. Initially, she’s incredulous, but then she gulps it down. That probably tastes better than anything she’s had out there. Mari overhears Ben either talking to himself or Javi’s “friend.” Also, the hot chocolate feels like a nod to Jackie and a potential foreshadowing of Mari’s demise.

Shauna and Melissa
In the present, Jeff’s furious with Shauna for messing up his dinner. Shauna calls the restaurant to inquire about the phone she found in the bathroom. Meanwhile, in the ’90s timeline, Shauna finds flowers before hearing the crunch of a potential intruder nearby. She whips out her knife. Melissa (Jenna Burgess) emerges.

Melissa claims she was scared and couldn’t sleep. She noticed Shauna was gone and thought she should keep an eye on her. Shauna insists that nobody has a right to her baby, to which Melissa agrees. At the same time, Adult Shauna asks if someone picked up the phone. When the person on the other end refuses to divulge that info, Shauna hangs up. She calls again and asks to speak with the manager. Hey, perhaps Callie was right — she does have an “I wanna speak to the manager” aura.
In the Wilderness, Melissa claims everyone fears Shauna, but she isn’t. Shauna holds a blade to Melissa’s throat, threatening to kill her if she tells the others about this. Melissa kisses Shauna, taking the latter by surprise. Then, Shauna kisses back. Though I believe Melissa likes Shauna, I think for Shauna, it’s more about finding a connection in the Wilderness and less about sexuality. Finding validation and affection to assuage her guilt (not to say she’s not queer, though).
Adult Shauna asks the manager what the phone owner looks like. She appears shocked by what she hears.
It has to be Adult Melissa, especially since this scene is spliced with Shauna and Melissa in the Wilderness.
