Joining the Yellowjackets Wilderness
Will Hilary Swank soon hear the Wilderness … and will it hear her? We learned that the two-time Oscar winner is boarding Showtime’s Yellowjackets for its third season. The news comes a month after the announcement of Joel McHale joining the season as a guest star.
Swank will be a recurring guest star whose role will potentially expand to series regular should Showtime renew Yellowjackets for Season 4. Of course, details regarding her character are under lock and key. However, the series will introduce Swank later in the season.
Premiering on November 14, 2021, the popular horror-thriller series follows members of a high school girls soccer team. Presented in two timelines, we see them in 1996 as they struggle to survive in the Canadian wilderness following a plane crash.

Then, in 2021, we follow four of them—Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa (Tawny Cypress), Misty (Christina Ricci) and Natalie (Juliette Lewis)—as they grapple with the trauma of that experience 25 years later. Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell joined the cast in Season 2 as adult Van and Lottie, respectively.
Hilary Swank
Swank has been a household name in the industry for decades. She won an Oscar for her performance in 1999’s Boys Don’t Cry and a second Oscar for 2004’s Million Dollar Baby. Additional credits include the ABC series Alaska Daily, Netflix’s Away, 2007’s Freedom Writers and the 2007 romance flick P.S. I Love You opposite Gerard Butler.
Deadline surmises that Swank could portray an adult version of one of the 1996 teens. I wonder if she might be Melissa, who Jenna Burgess plays in the ’90s timeline.
