Yellowjackets fans won’t have to wait until Season 3 for another taste – we’re getting a bonus episode. Co-creator Ashley Lyle took to Twitter to announce the extra episode earlier this week. Read on to find out what we know so far.

Season 2 of Yellowjackets ended with episode nine on March 26. The episode drew a record-breaking number of viewers for Showtime, making it the second most-streamed Showtime original season finale ever, behind Dexter: New Blood. The finale got mixed reviews thanks to a surprise character death, among other plot points, but it still drew a huge crowd.

Now fans know they don’t have to wait until Season 3 to get some closure. Lyle promised a “bonus episode between seasons.” She didn’t indicate, however, when the episode might air. With Season 2 just ending last month, it may be a while.

Yellowjackets premiered in November 2021 and follows a New Jersey high school girls’ soccer team that crashed in the Canadian wilderness in 1996. The remaining members of the team do whatever it takes to survive. Meanwhile, the series flashes forward to the survivors’ lives 25 years later in 2021. The show stars Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse as adult and teen Shauna, Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Taissa, Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty as Misty, Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher as Natalie, Simone Kessell and Courtney Eaton as Lottie and Lauren Ambrose and Liv Hewson as Van.
