Y: The Last Man just lost its main actor. Barry Keoghan was playing Yorick Brown in the series adapted from the comic of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. No word on why Keoghan has exited the project but he is in The Eternals which just wrapped production.

The project will surely find another actor to fill the role of poor Yorick but fans of Y: The Last Man are certainly sighing. An adaptation of the work has been trying to get to television screens for years. In fact, Eliza Green stepped in as showrunner after Aida Croal and Michael Green abruptly left the series last April.

Before Keoghan’s exit, Y: The Last Man was set to premiere late this year. However, that is now in question as the pilot will need extensive reshoots.

Y: The Last Man is a dystopian/science fiction tale published by Vertigo. The tale revolves around Yorick Brown who, along with his pet Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, are the only males to survive the simultaneous death of all males on Earth. Yes, simultaneous – chaos ensues. The story explores survival, gender, race and class. Cast as some of the female survivors on Earth are Imogen Poots, Diane Lane, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, Marin Ireland and Amber Tamblyn.

Collider was first to break the news on Keoghan’s departure.
