Right before the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, Fox treated us to an 80s style commercial for the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Follow Jubilee as she extols the virtues of an education with other mutants like you. Marvel at the the cheese, the the bad quality video, the worse quality sound, and watch a perfect imitation of an early 80s commercial.
Did you watch it all the way through? If you did, you will have noticed the phone number at the end of the commercial, a number that happens to be a very real and active number. If you call, you get a greeting recorded by Stan Lee himself.
Hello you’ve reached Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Sorry we can’t take your call right now but please join us on May 27th as we host a very special and truly marvelous open house show. Thanks for your call and have an amazing day. Excelsior!
This number is obviously owned by Fox, and you were able to leave a message for at least the first week it was active. In one week 75,000 messages were left. What do you do when you get 75K messages in one week? You disable the number, right? Well, sort of. The number is still active, you can still listen to the message, but you can no longer leave a voice mail.
However, all is not lost! Fox compiled some of the very real messages that were recorded over the course of that one week, watch the video below and let the ear shenanigans ensue.
