Earpers, 2024 is shaping up to be the best thing since whiskey, doughnuts and tasty tacos. Why? Because Wynonna Earp: Vengeance is on the way.
On February 8, Vanity Fair announced that the “unkillable” Wynonna Earp will return for a 90-minute special on Tubi after SYFY reversed its commitment to a fifth season three years ago. (Everyone, say “Thank you, Tubi.”)
We know the show’s creator (adapted from Beau Smith’s comic book series)/showrunner/executive producer Emily Andras has penned the script for the special. Frequent Earp director Paolo Barzman returned at the helm. And, of course, stars Melanie Scrofano, Tim Rozon, Dom Provost-Chalkley, Katherine Barrell, Varun Saranga and Greg Lawson reprised their beloved roles.
Production on the special wrapped in mid-March. We already know it will air on Tubi later this year. So, what can we expect? What do we want to see?

Well, folks, I’ve compiled a list of things I hope to see when Wynonna Earp returns with a vengeance. I don’t expect to have everything magically checked off my wishlist; that’s what Season 5 is for.
WayHaught Reveling in Domestic Bliss
“I promise to hold your hand when the firelight grows dim and that my love never will.”
Like all Earpers, and I feel confident being the voice of everyone here, thinking about Waverly (Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole’s (Barrell) romance gives me the warm fuzzies. I’m also confident we’ll get plenty of WayHaught reveling in domestic bliss in Vengeance. Still, I feel it’s prudent to write it aloud. Manifest your dreams, people.

I want Stairs 2.0, some slice-of-life content, WayHaught being the best moms to Rachel (Martina Ortiz Luis) and more.
Jeremy as Deputy Director of Black Badge and His Love Life
Remember Jeremy’s (Saranga) forthcoming date established in the Season 4 finale? How did that go? Is he thriving in a long-term relationship or delighting in an active dating life? I crave all the juicy deets. Not only that, but I’m super curious about Jeremy’s new role as Deputy Director of Black Badge. I hope we see him on the job with a talented team behind him as they endeavor to protect Purgatory from supernatural threats.
Side note: I’d watch the hell out of a Black Badge spin-off in the same vein as The Office. Let’s see the lower-level employees’ reactions to all the Earp mayhem.
WynDoc Bringing Alice Home
At the end of “Old Souls,” Wynonna (Scrofano) and Doc (Rozon) leave Purgatory for the wide pastures of the world beyond. Of course, they decide to make a pit stop in Miracles, Montana, to visit sweet little Alice Michelle.

With Purgatory relatively safe from demons, I’d love to see these two crazy kids bring Alice home. Can you imagine Alice with her aunts, Waverly and Nicole? With her Uncle Jeremy? I’m already anticipating dying from cuteness. The best part of Wynonna Earp is its complex, compelling character dynamics, so I’d love for the special to experiment with those by bringing Alice into the fold.
The Gang Kicking Eve’s Ass
The Eve storyline was left dangling in the breeze, and it’s time for the overarching narrative to address it again. She’s currently skulking somewhere in, presumably, Purgatory. What’s fascinating about this character is that she can literally be anybody. That could be fun to play with should Eve be the female villain with whom our heroes square off.

I want to see our posse of dipsh*ts kick Eve’s keister back to the place from whence she came. We need the Angel, the Shield and the Champion fighting together in perfect harmony.
Lots of Delightful Wynaught Moments
You know it will be an entertaining Wynonna Earp episode when Wynaught shenanigans take center stage. Who doesn’t love watching Daddy Haught and her best friend battle baddies while unintentionally falling down the hijinks rabbit hole? Add some tomfoolery, and I’m there.
Give me all the delightful Wynonna and Nicole moments in the special. Pretty please?
Fleshing Out the Waverly/Dark Waverly Storyline
Along with Eve, the Waverly/Dark Waverly plot is another element from Season 4 for which I’d love more context. Let’s flesh the hell out of it, folks. Dom knocked it out of the park as Dark Waverly and looked too cool for school in that getup. I hope we see Waves reconciling with that part of her and the potential ramifications of Nicole’s vow to be the Angel’s Shield. To me, these two things are inextricably linked.

Perhaps we’ll get scenes with Dark Waverly trying to reemerge after three years of dormancy. Maybe she’ll play a vital role in putting Eve to bed.
Oh, I now want a Dark Waverly versus Eve fight scene. Make it so.
Mercedes Being a Hot Vampire
Listen, making Mercedes (Dani Kind) a vampire was one of the show’s best moves. Who’s better suited for being a hot creature of the night? I want to think she runs the Glory Hole since Amon (Noam Jenkins) is presumably out of the picture (Do we know if he’s dead?).

I’m not saying we need a full-fledged secondary storyline for Mercedes, but even an appearance as her vamp self would be lovely (along with a few killer one-liners).
Rachel Coming Into Her Own
Rachel is now a bona fide Earp/Haught/Holliday/Chetri family member. While we have great Rachel content in Season 4, she was somewhat sidelined as the main seasonal narrative took precedence. I’d love to get to know Rachel better.
We know her backstory regarding how she wound up in the Black Badge Division facility in Monument and how she lost her mother. I hope we see her flourish in these new bonds in her life. How is she faring with Waverly and Nicole? Is she still dating Billy (Billy Bryk)? Has Nedley (Lawson) become a father figure to her (I could say “grandfather” but I’m not sure Neds would like that)?
Honorable Mention: More Context Regarding Mama Earp
Where the flippin’ heck is Mama Earp (Megan Follows)? She left around mid-Season 3 to look for Julian (Sebastian Pigott) and never returned. Does she know Julian is dead?

I really loved watching her rekindle her relationship with Wynonna and Waverly. There’s so much trauma and deeply embedded grief for both women regarding their parents. As someone with parental trauma, this resonated profoundly with me.
Even if it’s just a mention, I’d like to know what Mama Earp’s doing. Perhaps we can bring her back for Season 5.
Honorable Mention: Where’s Kate?
I loved Kate (Chantel Riley) immediately upon her introduction. A Black woman who’s a vampire, a gifted tarot reader, Doc’s wife from the Wild West and someone based on a historical figure? Sign me all the way up. Despite not having much screen time, Riley delivered a nuanced, fun performance.
I hope Kate revisits Purgatory in some fashion. I want to know what she’s been up to since her brief interaction with Nicole in the Season 4 premiere. Her fate was left open-ended, which is fantastic from a storytelling perspective. That means she can return at any time.

Like Mama Earp, I’d settle for a mention or hint regarding her current whereabouts. If that doesn’t happen … Season 5 it is.
