We’re going to get a sequel to the urban fantasy Bright. Announced today in a funny casting video, we learned a second adventure has been green lit by Netflix. But according to THR, the film will be a bit different this time around. Seemingly most everyone is back on board for the project except the man behind the words – Max Landis. But why isn’t he a part of the sequel that’s been gaining views?
What we learned is that director David Ayer will be taking over scripting duties. This isn’t uncommon in his films but it doesn’t always work (ie Suicide Squad being panned for script reasons). That being said we currently have no reasons given for Landis’ departure in scripting the sequel. One can’t help but think of his recent sexual abuse allegations is part of the reason or maybe the script being panned by critics but we have no word. The writer has also been a part of BBC’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency which may have something to do with it as well. But at the present time, we don’t know.
What do you think of him not returning? Are you looking forward to a David Ayer script or not? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Bright news. You can currently watch Bright right now on Netflix.
