Blizzard Entertainment took to Twitter today to update World of Warcraft players on the state of the their upcoming expansion. Originally it was set to release in the fourth quarter of 2020; they made the official announcement during Gamescom 2020 that it would release on October 27, 2020. However, after much deliberation the team has decided to postpone the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion.
The post shares that while yes, the game is essentially ready to release, there is still polishing that needs done. The World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion will be taking players from the realm of the living to the Shadowlands. They will be working alongside one of four covenants to restore anima back to their people. But something mysterious is going on within the Maw, and it is our responsibly to search it out.

Normally game delays really upset me, but in the case of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands I am actually okay. This is a massive expansion where they are introducing a new level squish, reworking every class, Torghast, the covenant system– and that is just the tip of the iceberg. The development team needs all the time they can get to really make this a seamless transaction for players.
They have not named a new release date for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, but they did share that pre-patch will be releasing on October 13, 2020. You still have time to get in on the action on PC through the official webpage.
