Good move, WB! The sequel to Wonder Woman has changed it’s release date, moving up six weeks. The smash hit almost instantly garnered a sequel. But according to Variety, there’s been a slight change of plan with the release date. Regardless of motive, this is a good idea.
The article says that the Wonder Woman sequel will come to theaters on November 1, 2019. That’s less than two years from now! Woohoo! And while they did not state why, I have a hunch that it’s because of one little franchise known as Star Wars. Since JJ Abrams took over writing and directing duties, they’ve had to change the release date from May 25th, 2019 to December 20th, 2019. The original date for the sequel was December 13th, 2019. And while I love Wonder Woman, the sequel would be absolutely crushed at the box office when the finale in the new saga trilogy comes out. So, great move by WB.

But, the sequel was recently under some pressure. According to Page Six, star Gal Gadot is refusing to come back to franchise unless director Brett Ratner is removed from all WB projects, especially the sequel film. Amid sexual harassment claims, WB has already severed ties with him. However, his company RatPac has already financed 5 films and it’s not known whether or not one of them is the Wonder Woman sequel. We’ll cross our fingers that since he’s out, Gadot will come back.
