After my excitement for Wonder Woman 1984 finally died down, I found myself constantly asking one question. What happened during those in-between years? Was Diana (Gal Gadot) off saving the world? Or was she hiding away after losing Steve Trevor (Chris Pine)? I assumed that those answers wouldn’t come until the movie’s release. However, The Hollywood Reporter shared news from DC that will help provide possible answers to my question with the release of a prologue comic.
The comic titled, Wonder Woman 1984 No 1, will be a direct tie in to Patty Jenkins film. It will feature two different stories. The first story, from Louise Simonson, Anna Obropta and Bret Belvins, will be a direct lead in featuring Diana dealing with a hostage situation at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The second story, from Steve Pugh and Marguerite Sauvage, will feature an unnamed villain attempting to steal her lasso. The comic features cover art from Nicola Scott.

Honestly, my excitement has reached an all time high in preparation for this film and now this upcoming comic. Of all the ladies within the DC franchise, Princess Diana is one of my favorites. My hope is that these comics do well and eventually become a series telling the events between the first and second film. It also makes me believe there is a chance we will be getting more comic tie-ins for future DC films as well.
Wonder Woman 1984 No 1 will release exclusively with Walmart on September 20, 2020 before releasing worldwide a week later. Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters on October 2, 2020.
