Wonder Woman fans, you may wanna sit down for this next bit of news. Actress Gal Gadot shared on her Instagram that things were going to be changing for Wonder Woman 1984. Namely, the release date. And we’re going to have to wait even longer for the film to come out. Much longer in fact.
Gadot took to her social media and gave a positive spin on the news. “Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!” If you recall, this marks the third time the date has been changed, fourth if you count the “original” date being this June 5th date. Before this, it was December 13th, 2019, just in time to compete heavily with Star Wars. Then, the latest date, was November 1st, 2019. A closer date and one with seemingly no competition. So for those keeping score: it’s gone from a year and 8 days from now to 1 year and 7 months.
While this means longer for us fans to wait, it also means more time for filming and editing. The film has a lot riding on it’s shoulders, following up the 2017 release. So maybe this is the smarter move. What curious is the “changing landscape” comment. Does this have direct correlation to Henry Cavill being rumored to be out as Superman? Or perhaps the Todd Phillip‘s Joker film currently in production? We’re not quite sure. I really hope it doesn’t mean that they’re completely changing the DCEU and giving Wonder Woman the shaft. We’ll have to wait and see.
What do you think of the date change? Are you sad you have to wait longer or do you not care? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC fun. You can now see Wonder Woman 1984 on it’s new date – June 5th, 2020.
