Variety is reporting that Season 4 of The Witcher has added some exciting names (and characters) to the mix. Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy and Danny Woodburn will join Liam Hemsworth as he takes over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill.
Veteran Actors, Beloved Characters
Sharlto Copley (District 9) will play the bounty hunter Leo Bonhart while James Purefoy (Rome, Altered Carbon) will play Skellen, a high-ranking spy and court advisor to Emhyr. Both are prominent characters from the Witcher novels. Veteran TV actor Danny Woodburn, most notable for his turn on Seinfeld as Kramer’s actor friend, Mickey, will play Zoltan, a beloved dwarf character from both the novels and Witcher video games.

A New White Wolf
In October 2023, it was announced that Henry Cavill would be leaving both the series and the role he originated in 2019 and that Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) would strap on the sword and medallion of Geralt of Rivia. In a statement at the time Hemsworth said, “As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honored that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”
What’s in Store for Season Four
Season 4 of the fan-favorite monster hunting show began production this spring. Season 3 (Cavill’s last) aired on Netflix between June and July 2023. There’s been no shortage of fan speculation about what’s to come in The Witcher Season 4, but the official description for the new season gives some clues:

“After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.”
With production underway right now, we’ll have to wait until at least early 2025 to find out.
