Down in São Paulo, Brazil this weekend, at the Comic Con Experience (CCXP 2015), Portuguese website, Super Interessante, spoke with Captain America: Civil War co-director Anthony Russo about his up-coming superhero epic, specifically what about Spider-Man. They started off with discussing the rumors that Spider-Man in the film has multiple suits. On this, Russo said,
“Well, we researched a lot and do a lot of experiments for all the characters. We did the same with Spider-Man. We knew it had to be someone young, it was very important because we wanted to give this essence to the character, it is something unique in the Marvel Universe. Tom Holland is an amazing Spider-Man, people will love it. It was a very experimental process, placing it with other actors, especially with Downey Jr., we were learning as we did and are very happy with the result. But we are still working on some things, like the uniform.”
However, it’s what he said next that has people talking about just what the suit will look like.
“He’s not ready because so much will be produced with special effects.”
A lot of people are taking this to mean that, at some point, we will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in the suit Iron Man created for him, The Iron Spider. However, this could also simply mean that a lot of what we see of Spider-Man is being done through digital avatars and doesn’t actually mean he’ll be in the red and gold Iron Spider costume at any point in the film. Or it could.
He then went on to say, in reference to being asked about the red and gold Iron Spider costume, “The film will show a mix of what everyone is waiting for and a little twist.”
What does that even mean!? Because we’re all waiting on an awful lot!
