Deadshot will not be a part of the Suicide Squad sequel as Will Smith has officially left the project. According to Variety, Smith is not coming back due to a scheduling conflict. Smith never confirmed his return, but this news makes it official. Warner Bros. and Smith parted ways on amicable terms.
Here’s what we know for certain about the sequel. James Gunn will write the script to provide a new take on the DC story. Production will begin in September 2019 There are no other casting updates, but Gunn is expecting Margot Robbie to reprise her role as Harley Quinn. A role Robbie is currently playing in the film Birds of Prey.
The first film also stars Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jared Leto, Jay Hernandez, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara and Cara Delevingne. And there is no official word on who will return for the sequel.
The Suicide Squad sequel is set for release on Aug. 6, 2021
