With just a little over a month until the premiere of The Wheel of Time, Amazon Prime Video is amping up the marketing. We got an incredible new trailer last week at NYCC 2021. Then, yesterday the series’ Twitter account put on a “Great Hunt” (named after the second book in The Wheel of Time series) for fans to find puzzle pieces that revealed a new motion poster featuring characters Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Lan (Daniel Henney) that you can see below.

Today, a new teaser was revealed that introduces Shadowspawn. What are Shadowspawn? They are the baddies who follow, and will do anything for, The Dark One. There are many kinds of Shadowspawn such as Trollocs, Grey Men, Draghkar and the most frightening, Myrddraal. The latter comes with many names like Fade, Eyeless or Half Men.

In the teaser, we get a very good look at the Trollocs and a Fade. Trollocs are the bloodthirsty, not too bright soldiers for The Dark One. They have the faces of animals and bodies of men, sometimes hooves for feet and they are always ready for a kill. Myrddraal/Fades can lead Trollocs into battle or work on their own. Whatever they are doing, you don’t want to be there and, as Moiraine says in this teaser, “You can’t outrun a Fade.”

Take a look at the teaser below along with the descriptive text that accompanied the new The Wheel of Time teaser.

DESCRIPTIVE TEXT: Out of a crowd of animal-like trolloc faces and hands, many of them holding torches, a myrddraal appears on horseback, riding slowly as the trollocs part. The horse he rides upon has a skull-like covering on his head. The myrddraal is wearing a black robe with a hood that nearly covers its face, but you can catch glimpses that reveal it has no eyes and pale white skin. Text on the screen says “Shadowspawn: Servants of the Dark” and below it are white weaves running horizontally. A closeup on the horse’s hooves cuts to both Lan’s and then Moiraine’s faces looking concerned. Cut to a metallic snake, coiling in a circle and swallowing its own tail as the words “The Wheel of Time” unfurl underneath it. The words “Amazon Original Series” appear at the top of the screen as “November Nineteenth” appears at the bottom. The Wheel of Time is based on Robert Jordan‘s fantasy series spanning 14 books. The final three books in the series were written by fantasy author Brandon Sanderson after Jordan’s passing. It is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. Meaning that in this series — women hold the keys to power. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization called the “Aes Sedai” as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women. Moiraine is interested in these five because she believes one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it.
