A first look at The Wheel of Time: Origins wasn’t the only news dropped during the SDCC 2022 panel today. Amazon Prime video took to the stage to announce that they have green-lit the third season for the high fantasy epic, The Wheel of Time. The series, based on the best-selling novels by Robert Jordan, took the world by storm when the first season was released in November of 2021. We’ve known that season two was in the works, but it’s even more exciting to know that we won’t have to wait and see if season three will be coming.

The Wheel of Time follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the Aes Sedai, as she gathers together a group of young adults who all have the chance to be the prophesied Dragon Reborn. The journey is difficult, and they face near death on more than one occasion. And that isn’t just against the monsters that lurk outside the small town of Two Rivers. The world, the characters and the magic system are so complex yet beautiful. It’s been an utter joy diving into season one, and we expect nothing less from two and three.

And we aren’t the only ones who feel that way. Showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins shared, “I’m so thrilled that we’ll be making a third season of The Wheel of Time. The Shadow Rising has always been my favorite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago.”

We still have quite a bit of time before we will get the chance to see season three of The Wheel of Time come to life, but you had better believe we are beyond excited. We don’t think we can express enough how much this series means to us. Honestly, there might not even be enough words in any language. We’re excited to see what adjustments from the novels the series takes and which of our favorite moments make it into the second and third season.

Alongside Pike, The Wheel of Time stars Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Josha Stradowski and Marcus Rutherford. We’ve shared a fun behind-the-scenes look at season two below to help tie you over! What are you most excited about in seasons two and three? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
