Welcome to another edition of What’s New on TV! This week, some big franchises are returning to give fans more of what they love. Get ready because things are about to get good!
The bees take over Los Angeles as Angela Bassett and Peter Krause return to 9-1-1. Kathy Bates takes on the role of lawyer as her new series, Matlock, premieres on CBS. And Julia Garner, Amy Leeso and Dianne West will bring the tension in Paramount+’s Apartment 7A.

NEW ON TV, SEPTEMBER 22–28
September 22 – Matlock
Kathy Bates’s new project has excited fans and sparked rumors. Matlock’s announcement caused a misunderstanding, implying Bates would retire after the project. Fear not; there will be more. But for now, she becomes Madeline Matlock as she rejoins the workforce in a law firm.
Matlock premieres Sunday, September 22 at 8/7c on CBS.

September 22 – From
Truth be told, not many people know that MGM+ has excellent series and movies. With too many streaming platforms, some fall through the cracks. But for those who have been invested for a while now, it is time for horror fan favorite From Season 3. Harold Perrineau is back as the lead as Boyd begins to feel the town slipping away from him due to the cold weather.
From premieres Sunday, September 22 at 9/8c on MGM+.

September 23 – 9-1-1: Lone Star
This is a very exciting week for fans of the 9-1-1 franchise, as both shows are returning. For 9-1-1: Lone Star, it is a bittersweet moment. On the one hand, fans are excited the show is finally back after more than a year-long hiatus. On the other hand, they are sad to know this is the show’s final season. But for now, they must enjoy it as the 126 returns to action while Marjan and Paul apply for the open lieutenant position.

September 23 – Brilliant Minds
Although TV shows about unique and gifted doctors aren’t new, Brilliant Minds is trying a new take on the theme, with Zachary Quinto as the lead. The show, which also includes Donna Murphy, will follow Dr. Wolf, a neurologist with a rare condition that gives him a different perspective on care. After being dismissed from his last job, he becomes the interns’ leader at Bronx General.
Brilliant Minds premieres Monday, September 23 at 10/9c on NBC.

September 24 – Murder in a Small Town
If you are a fan of TV shows based on books, then Murder in a Small Town is the perfect new show for you. Rossif Sutherland takes on the role of Karl Alberg, the character whose name comes from L.R. Writght’s book series. Alberg decides it’s time to leave big-city police work behind and move to a small coastal town. However, things aren’t as expected, and he must rely on his past for his new job.
Murder in a Small Town premieres Tuesday, September 24 at 8/7c on FOX.

September 25 – Midnight Family
Representation is lacking at times on TV. The roles given to Latinx actors to tell their stories usually fall into the stereotype category. Apple TV+ is tying to change that with Midnight Family, which includes Renata Vaca, Diego Calva and Yalitza Aparicio. Marigaby has to balance her life between being a medical student and helping her family’s private ambulance business in Mexico City.

September 25 – One Chicago
Everyone’s favorite first responders franchise is back this week on NBC. While Chicago Med gets ready to welcome new faces, Chicago Fire must face the reality of working with a new chief, played by Dermot Mulroney. Chicago P.D. must find a way to carry on without Hailey Upton. As usual, all three shows are off to chaotic premieres. Chicago Med will find itself treating a large number of patients. Chicago Fire finds Violet and Novak trying to discover what happened at a car accident scene. And Chicago P.D. works a high-stakes drug bust.
One Chicago returns Wednesday, September 25 between 8/7c and 10/9c on NBC.

September 25 – Everybody Still Hates Chris
If Everybody Hates Chris was your show and seeing Tyler James Williams on Abbott Elementary woke up your nostalgia, then Everybody Still Hates Chris is the show for you. Comedy Central brings the perfect animated series for grownups who still think of the 90s shows. It will combine your favorite things about the original with a new twist.

September 26 – Colin from Accounts
Colin from Accounts is back with Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall. The show’s second season will have eight episodes and pick up where it left off. If you are interested in the complexity of human relations, falling in love, finding yourself and learning to navigate life, this is the show you should watch.
Colin from Accountants Season 2 premieres Thursday, September 26 at 3/2 am on Paramount+.

September 26 – Nobody Wants This
In a time and age when so many people struggle to find the one, it is quite interesting (and entertaining) to watch TV shows that explore the most intimate kinds of human relationships. Nobody Wants This joins the genre by the hand of Adam Brody and Kristen Bell. Bell plays an outspoken, agnostic woman, and Brody plays an unconventional rabbi as they get to know each other and explore a relationship together.
Nobody Wants This premieres Thursday, September 26 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

September 26 – 9-1-1
By now, you have definitely heard about Sharknado, but did you ever imagine you’d live to hear about bee-nado? Well, bee-nado has arrived and is here to stay for the next three weeks. As per usual, 9-1-1 is opening its new season with a three-episode big event that includes yet another major catastrophe. Angela Bassett, Peter Krause and everyone’s favorite cast will return for Season 8.

September 26 – Doctor Odyssey
Maybe, just maybe, there are too many shows about doctors. But can you say no to a show that includes Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson and Phillipa Soo? Can you say no to a doctor who works onboard a luxury cruise and treats medical crises several miles away from shore? If you can’t say no to those things, Doctor Odyssey is the perfect new medical show for you.

September 26 – Grey’s Anatomy
As if ABC didn’t already have a busy week, Grey’s Anatomy is coming back as well. Whether you are still very much in love with the show or watching to see when it’ll end, one can’t deny that Grey’s Anatomy will consistently deliver a drama-packed Thursday night. For Season 21, there are characters (Dr. Sydney Heron) returning and characters (Dr. Miranda Bailey) slapping their bosses. Meanwhile, Catherine continues to interfere with Meredith and Amelia’s Alzheimer’s research.

September 27 – Apartment 7A
If you are looking for a movie to watch this week, you might be interested in Apartment 7A. The cast includes Julia Garner, Amy Leeson and Diane West. Paramount+’s original movie is a prequel to Rosemary’s Baby and follows Terry Gionoffrio after suffering an injury. Her dreams of fame are stopped, and she moves in with a wealthy couple in Bramford while she recovers. However, when the time comes for her to keep chasing her dreams, she begins to second-guess what she is willing to sacrifice. At the same time, she discovers there might be something evil living with her.
Apartment 7A premieres Friday, September 27 at 3/2 am on Paramount+.

September 27 – Gyeongseong Creature
Sometimes, shows surprise viewers between seasons by bringing a completely different setting to the screen. That is exactly what Gyeongseong Creature will be doing in Season 2. Instead of the series taking place in the spring of 1945, it will be happening on the streets of Seoul in 2024. This is yet another way in which the fates of Jang Tae-sang and Yoon Chae-ok will intertwine.
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 premieres Friday, September 27 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

September 28 – Saturday Night Live
If you are looking to finish the week with comedic relief, you’ll be happy to know Saturday Night Live is back for Season 50. Only days ago, the host and musical guest of the season’s first show were announced. Hacks fans will be on the edge of their seats watching Jean Smart take on the hosting challenge. She will be introducing musical guest Jelly Roll.

September 28 – Uzumaki
Adult Swim is bringing a new animated series for anime fans. Uzumaki is the story of a town that goes insane over one obsession: spiral shapes. The spirals are everywhere — in clouds, everyday objects, hair, insects and skin.
Uzumaki premieres Saturday, September 28 at 12:30 am/11:30c on Adult Swim.
