BAT! What We Do in the Shadows Season 5 delivered its finale on a coffin-shaped platter last month. Thankfully, we know the show is returning for Season 6 (it was renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 last year), so there’s a good chance our biting (or “burning,” if you’re a vampire standing in proximity to a curtain and Guillermo during sunrise) questions will get answers.
While the Season 5 closer could stand as a series finale, the inclusion of a few loose narrative threads could be fun to explore in the upcoming sixth season. To tide us over during the inevitably long wait ahead, I’ve compiled a list of predictions for Season 6.

Guillermo Will Decide What He Truly Wants
Season 5 saw Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) struggle to navigate his newfound undead status, with Nandor (Kayvan Novak) effectively reversing his vampirism in the finale. Now, Guillermo heads into Season 6 as a human again. Nandor told him he could now decide what he wanted, so our Gizmo will do just that. Whatever course he sets for himself could determine his trajectory for the remainder of the series. Will he continue being a Familiar for our vampires, or will he find something else within the vampire world that’s more suited to his talents?

The Household Dynamic Might Return to What It Was in the Earlier Seasons
I can picture the dynamic between Nandor, Guillermo, Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) returning to what it was in earlier seasons without unraveling previously established connections. For example, it would be silly to undo Guillermo’s and Laszlo’s burgeoning friendship. However, the house will resume treating Guillermo like a Familiar and occasionally crossing the insensitivity line, as our vamps are wont to do. After all, we can’t have them to a complete 180.
In short, we’ll revisit a familiar (hee hee) household dynamic that has new colors to it that reflect everyone’s respective character developments.
The Guide Will Take a Larger Role in the Vampire Residence With Newfound Confidence
The Guide (Kristen Schaal) put everyone in their collective place during “A Weekend at Morrigan Manor.” She’d had enough of our crew treating her like sh*t. This episode showed us how cunning and crafty she can be. Even though the vampires claimed they actually like her, I wouldn’t be surprised if The Guide tries to take a more significant role in the group with her newfound confidence. I’d love to get a Guide-centered episode in Season 6, too. There’s still so much about her that we don’t know; delving into her backstory would be fun. Bring on a confident Guide who takes charge.

Nandor Will Take More Steps Toward Sorting Out His Feelings for Guillermo
Listen, Nandermo is one of the slowest slow burns in TV history, and that’s not hyperbole or subjective. It’s pretty damn clear to me that Nandor and Guillermo are heading toward Romance Land, even if they take the long way around. I’d like to see them eventually navigate this inevitability, but for now, I’m enjoying the ride. I picture Nandor progressing in the feelings department as he gains a deeper insight into how he feels about Guillermo. I’m not saying it needs to happen overnight — I’d accept movement even at a snail’s pace.

After all, the cast seems keen on the show continuing for as long as possible, and I can’t see FX wanting to ax it any time soon.
Nadja Will Pursue a New Business Venture
Remember Nadja’s from Season 4? Sure, Nadja burned it down because of a lack of revenue, but it’s proof positive that she’s savvy enough to establish a business from the ground up. I’d love to see her pursue a new venture in Season 6, whether opening another service industry-esque establishment or starting a small-scale business. Perhaps she could create an Etsy store or tackle an advice column. Maybe she opens a shop in the infamous Night Market. The possibilities for our favorite Antipaxan are endless.

We’ll Get a Baron/The Sire-Centric Episode
It’s about time we get an episode that spotlights Baron Afanas (Doug Jones) and The Sire, aka Goëjlrm, especially now that they have those weird Guillermo fish hybrid babies. And who can forget their precious hellhound? It’d be fun to get a day-in-the-life outing featuring these characters residing in New Jersey, living the American dream and wreaking nocturnal havoc. Maybe our core vamps (and Guillermo) can be supporting players in this episode.
We could watch Baron interact with his neighbors more in-depth and/or him disciplining his new children. I’d also love a better peek behind the curtain at his dynamic with The Sire.

Laszlo and Nadja Will Join Separate Bands
Nothing compares to Nadja and Laszlo’s human music group; however, I’d love to see them join separate bands in Season 6 and the potential competition that breeds. They could compete against each other in a local Battle of the Bands. Perhaps this is me wanting to listen to Matt Berry perform on TV again, but who cares? This is my list, dammit. Let the vamps explore their musical horizons. Admittedly, it’d be even better if they joined human bands who don’t understand their perception of “human music.” Comedy ensues.

Colin Robinson Will Join the Supreme Council for Energy Vampires
Last season, we were introduced to the Supreme Council for Energy Vampires. In Season 6, I’d love for Colin Robinson to join said council. I can imagine him boring even his fellow council members to sleep. We could better understand the council’s tasks and how they conduct business beyond the taste we got in Season 5. Plus, Colin Robinson is always a gas when given even a smidgen of power. (Remember when he was promoted at work?) Maybe he’ll grow his hair out again (and that hipster handlebar mustache).
Bonus Prediction: Laszlo, Nadja and Nandor Will Take Another Stab at Hosting the Biannual Vampire Orgy
Our vampires haven’t hosted the Biannual Vampire Orgy since the first season. I feel it’s high time we give them a redo. Certainly, more narrative ground and delightful raunchiness are worth exploring in such a setting. Hilarious sexual hijinks. Perhaps Laszlo’s witch hat makes its triumphant return to spread bad luck and orgy mayhem.
