The coven in What We Do in The Shadows just got a upgrade in social standing. The Supreme Worldwide Vampiric Council just appointed Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) to the Vampiric Council of the Eastern Seaboard of the New World. Now they have to decide on a Supreme Leader. In “The Cloak of Duplication,” Nandor struggles with a crush on a human, while Nadja asserts her power.

It’s the first day of work on the Vampiric Council. Nandor and Nadja decided to work together to be the leader, but they both feel they are the better leader. Nandor says he’s the more experienced leader and one day will make Nadja his number two. Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) giggles asking about making a number two. Nandor says he can’t force a number two, but it’s important to make a number two. And there’s nothing funny about a firm number two. Guillermo giggles and asks what Nandor’s plan is. The plan is that Nandor, the Relentless, will sit on his throne and make a number two. Guillermo can’t help but laugh so Nandor sends him away.

The Guide (Kristen Schaal) takes the new council to the Chamber of Curiosities, a room of vampiric collections. Some of the stuff is powerful, and some of it is just for fun. Like Van Helsing’s private parts.

They have The Sire locked in a room next door. The Sire is the source of all vampires. And the Guide warns them several times not to open the door to the Sire.

Nandor finds the Cloak of Duplication. A white cloak that transforms the wearer into someone else. The Guide tells them not to touch it. She puts Guillermo in a small room because he’s human. Nandor protests until the Guide says the only way Guillermo can walk around is if they turn him into a vampire. Nandor refuses. Plus, locking up Guillermo makes the Guide feel better.

Laszlo and Colin enjoy the vampire library on What We Do in The Shadows

Laszlo and Colin Robinson take interest in the vast library. Laszlo is interested in the largest collection of pornography. Colin wants to use the library to find out where he comes from. He mentions that he’s turning 100 this year.

Guillermo finds a vent to crawl through and makes his way around the council headquarters. He finds wraiths measuring Nandor for a cloak and gives them pointers. The Guide is frustrated that Guillermo was able to get out and is now crawling around in the air vents.

The Guide leaves to take care of some bills, giving Nandor an opportunity to look at the Cloak of Duplication. He thinks the cloak can help him with his girlfriend Meg. Meg isn’t actually his girlfriend. She works at the gym that Nandor used to go to. He’s only had awkward chats with the girl and needs some help.

Nandor asks Laszlo to wear the cloak and instructs him to talk to Meg at the gym. Laszlo doesn’t want to and passes the task to Colin Robinson.

Colin Robinson becomes Nandor and heads to the gym.  He decides to “neg” Meg and insults her. He implies that he’s as good as she’s going to get. Meg leaves the front desk and tells him to wait. She alerts security and Nandor/Colin is escorted out of the building. Colin Robinson returns home and tells Laszlo about how he failed. He assumes Meg is not into guys. Laszlo wants to give it a try. He takes the cloak and leaves.

Nadja and Nandor want to visit a coven who hasn’t paid their dues. They ask Colin Robinson to go with them to take notes. Nadja is ready to bust some heads, but Nandor thinks they should be calm and diplomatic about it. A young vampire named Wes Blankenship answers the door and Nadja tears into him. Nandor calms states who they are and why they are there. Wes invites them in.

Nandor flirts with the girl at the gym on What We Do in The Shadows

Laszlo puts on the cloak and goes into the gym. He tells Meg that he wasn’t himself earlier. He gives her flowers, sings her a song, and hands her a page from the pornography book. Meg calls for back up and they throw Nandor/Laszlo out, again.

Wes tells Nadja and the real Nandor that they created their own body of government, the Council of Vampires. He has to leave to answer the phone, because no one else will. Nadja and Nandor start arguing because she wants to be more aggressive and he wants to be more diplomatic. Meanwhile, Colin finds another energy vampire who’s a fan of his, Dave.

Guillermo ends up in the library where Laszlo is. Laszlo tells Guillermo to put on the Cloak and head for the gym.

Colin and Dave sit at a table and talk about their work as energy vampires. Nadja and Nandor are arguing with Wes and his associate. They can’t give any good reasons why the young vampires should come back to the Vampiric Council; especially when Wes mentions that he has a masters degree in urban planning.

Guillermo, disguised as Nandor, gets a date with Meg. He starts talking about his relationship with Nandor. Meg encourages Nandor to take Guillermo out and tell him how he feels, thinking Nandor is gay. Guillermo gets embarrassed and leaves.

Nadja wants to get rid of Wes, but they are outnumbered. Nandor says they need to leave and strategize. Nadja agrees, but as Nandor is saying goodbye, she reaches into Wes’s chest and pulls out his heart. The other young vampires bow to her. She tells them that dues are due the first full moon of the month and to respect their elders.

Afterward, Nandor returns to the gym to talk to Meg. Meg thinks he wants to continue talking about Guillermo, but instead Nandor says he believes Meg is the love of his life. Meg says she is a lesbian, so Nandor compels her to forget.

Nadja confronts Nandor about what happened at Wes’s palace. She says it can never happen again and asks if he’s going soft. He says he thinks there’s more to life than just mindless killing and blood lust. Nadja disagrees but she has Laszlo to share her life with. Nadja says Nandor has become very soft. She shuts the coffin and walks to the next room.

Nadja puts on the cloak and turns into Nandor. She knocks on his coffin and screams at him when he opens the coffin. She taunts him saying she has her hands on his private parts, making him scream for her to stop. She yells for Laszlo to try that thing he’s always wanted to, still disguised as Nandor.
