Praise be to the god of mischief! Disney Investor Day dropped a glorious first look for Marvel’s Loki into our collective lap. Yes, it really is glorious. We’ve also got a release month and year!
The series takes place amid the time travel hijinks in Avengers: Endgame. Loki will be introduced to the TVA or “Time Variance Authority.” According to The Verge, the series is billed as a “crime thriller.” My favorite part of the teaser is Loki trading barbs with Owen Wilson‘s character, who’s currently nameless. We also get a glimpse of Gugu Mbatha-Raw‘s judge-like role.

Based on this clip, Loki definitely gets into mischief and then some. We see him standing before Mbatha-Raw’s character in chains. Hey, he’s a wanted Asgardian. I was hoping to see Richard E. Grant, but perhaps Marvel is keeping his role under wraps.
One of the highlights from this clip is the end when Loki is standing among his new posse looking positively smug. Then, they procure their weaponry on him. Because that’s what folks do when they trust you, right?
To sum up this teaser in one word, besides glorious, I’d say “cheeky.” It’s quite cheeky. Tom Hiddleston has always imbued our favorite trickster god with a cheekiness that’s definitely endearing. I can’t wait to see more of his mischief and mayhem.
