Dolores considers the beauty of it all on Westworld

These violent delights have trailer-filled ends. HBO finally unveiled the official trailer for Season 4 of Westworld, and, as per usual, we have no clue what’s happening, but by golly, does it look stunning.

The Westworld trailer opens with Evan Rachel Wood narrating as Dolores Abernathy as she pins the blame on herself for the ensuing chaos. Tessa Thompson‘s Charlotte Hale seems hellbent on evolving the human race, while Ed Harris‘s Man in Black believes humans aren’t meant to transcend but to destroy.

There are loads of breathtaking shots, ethereal imagery and flies — a lot of flies. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Westworld trailer without frames featuring emotionally-charged facial expressions (ahem, Aaron Paul‘s Caleb Nichols). Ramin Djawadi‘s impactful, transcendent score punctuates the trailer’s action.

Season 4 asks us to question the nature of our reality. Here’s the logline:

“A dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on earth.”

Recently, Oscar winner Ariana DeBose was announced as a recurring guest star. James Marsden made a surprise appearance at ATX TV Festival to reveal his return to the series for Season 4.

If there’s one thing this show excels at, it’s coupling profundities with mind-bending visuals and a head-scratching narrative. However, at its core, Westworld is a punchy drama brimming with masterclass performances.

Westworld stars Evan Rachel Wood, Emmy winner Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul, James Marsden and Angela Sarafyan. This trailer might not look like anything to you, but you can break the conventional mold of thinking when the series returns on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 9 pm on HBO with streaming on HBO Max.
