Westworld latest trailer sets ups some interesting storylines for our artificial intelligent friends. Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is planing a rebellion and someone is taking notice. Westworld has a way of making the story dark with its music. This trailer is set to Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine,” a piano cover by composer Ramin Djawadi.
Dolores narrates the first part trailer, speaking of the pain she was born into and that “her kind” were never allowed to see the real world. She sounds like she’s out for revenge on the world. Dolores has a new friend, Caleb (Aaron Paul), and relates to him by saying they were both put into a cage and someone else decided what their life would be like. It sounds like she’s recruiting him to join her fight. Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) is worried. Five hosts against the world. Dolores says it will be enough. Enough for what?
With every revolution there is always someone trying to stop you. In this case, Dolores has two enemies…that we know of. First, the Man in Black (Ed Harris). When we first see him, he appears frail as Dolores welcomes him to the end of the game. That seems to light a fire in the Man in Black because now he wants to save the world, presumably from Dolores. The second is an unnamed character played by Vincent Cassel, who may have some kind of stake in the Westworld park. He send Maeve (Thandie Newton) on a mission to find and kill Dolores.
Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) returns both inside and outside of the park. At the end of season two, park security Ashley Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth) was revealed as a secret host. He joins Bernard in the real world, but it’s unclear if they are working with Dolores or not.
There’s lots of gunfire, explosions, and Dolores fighting, even losing an arm at one point. Caleb has to question what happens if Dolores’ plan doesn’t work. Her answer is to do things the old fashion way and kill everyone. The trailer ends with Dolores saying the old gods are coming and they are very angry. She looks up and sees someone with a katana standing before her. Maeve.
My biggest question is: Who are the five hosts? Dolores and Bernard for sure. Stubbs only because he led Dolores out of the park, but she was in Charlotte’s body when that happened. So who’s in Charlotte’s body now? That’s four, who’s the fifth? Yes, Maeve is a host, but she was left behind inside of the park. I don’t think Dolores knows or cares what happened to the hosts left behind. She has the technology to create new bodies, as seen in the trailer. Who else did she bring with her?
This looks like an interesting season. If you haven’t watched any of Westworld or just need a refresher, there’s still time to do so before season three starts. You should also check out the other trailers. There may be some information you might have missed. For now check out the latest trailer below.
