HBO released a new teaser for the upcoming Westworld season three that goes through a timeline of present and future downfalls of power. And a premiere date… Beware the Ides of March!
The teaser focuses on the divergence that happen through time, beginning in 2019. It’s interesting because the first two occurrences actually happened. The first is political unrest in Hong Kong in June 2019. The second is the impeachment of the United States President in December 2019.
Future divergences include including ecological collapse in Indonesia on May 20, 2020; the assassination of the U.S. president-elect in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2024; and a thermonuclear incident in Paris in 2025. These events are voiced over by an unknown narrator.
The notable occurrences that pertain to the show are April 17, 2039, the “system” was initiated and on Feb. 27, 2058, there was a “critical event, Is that “system” the creation of the hosts featured in Westworld park? Maybe. The critical divergence in 2058 could be when the hosts gained consciousness and took over the park. Now they are free in the outside world.
Westworld stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Simon Quarterman, and Rodrigo Santoro. Added to the cast this season are Aaron Paul, Vincent Cassel, Lena Waithe, Scott Mescudi, Marshawn Lynch, John Gallagher Jr., Michael Flanagan and Tommy Flanagan.
