WEDNESDAY Season 2 Is Officially in Production

Highlights:

  • Wednesday season 2 is officially in production in Ireland.
  • Jenna Ortega will, of course, be returning as Wednesday Addams.
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will return alongside new cast members.

Double Snaps for Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday season 2 is officially in production. Netflix shared an image from the set in Ireland on X/Twitter. Read on to find out what else we know about the new season.

Wednesday was an instant hit for Netflix when it first aired in 2022. The series is a dark coming-of-age story starring creator Charles Addams‘ classic character as she goes to Nevermore Academy. Season 1 followed Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) solving a series of murders and saving Nevermore and its students from destruction. The show received 12 Emmy nominations, winning four.

The Cast 

Production for Wednesday season 2 was delayed due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, filming began again this week in Ireland. Ortega is returning for the new season alongside Emma Myers, Joy Sunday and Hunter Doohan. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo were also upped to season regulars. Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J. Ogawa will not be returning per Deadline

Season 2 Additions 

Season 2 has plenty of new characters as well. Joanna Lumley joins the cast as Grandmama Adams, and Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in The Addams Family film franchise, will appear in an undisclosed role. Steve Buscemi also joined the cast, taking over as principal of Nevermore Academy. Additional season 2 guest stars and regulars include Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo and Billie Piper.

Tim Burton returns at the helm as series director and executive producer alongside series creators/executive producers Miles Millar and Al Gough

Wednesday season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2025. Season 1 is currently streaming on the platform.
