If you have been waiting for more Eternals content to appear after the film hit theaters last fall, this news from WEBTOON today should have you on the edge of your seat! The digital webtoon platform is partnering with Marvel to bring a new series to life – Eternals: The 500 Year War! It is set to release on Marvel Unlimited starting today, January 12, 2022, and then on the WEBTOON app on January 20, 2022.
The seven-issue series will spotlight the team’s past encounters during the 500 Year War against the Deviants around the world. Each issue will give us a look at how they interact with different cultures of the human race over the span of hundreds of years. To help add authenticity to these groups of people, each issue will feature an international creative team of writers and artists from the respective country. The innovative line-up of writers includes Dan Abnett, Aki Yanagi, Jongmin Shin, Rafael Scavone and many others.

The Editor-in-Chief of Marvel C.B. Cebulski shared, “Bringing Eternals: The 500 Year War to Marvel Unlimited will open up doors for our international creative teams to tell much more personal stories by setting time in their homelands. These stories also break down borders and provide excitement beyond anything fans can imagine with these diverse, multi-cultural characters.” This is the second collaboration with a major comic creator following WEBTOON’s partnership with DC in 2021.
David Lee, Head of Content at WEBTOON US, even shared, “This series is perfect for anyone who wants to see more of the incredible Eternals in action, expanding their universe with new stories and a new format on WEBTOON. We’re thrilled to work with Marvel on Eternals: The 500 Year War and can’t wait to collaborate on more incredible stories together.” And that is exactly what this makes me hope for. That this series is just the tipping-off point for more stories to come from the Marvel universe. I love what they have done with Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. Giving us a different perspective of stories we know and love. Imagine a slice-of-life look at some of our favorite Marvel heroes.
