I promise you, you’re not seeing ghosts right now. Yesterday we learned that director Jason Reitman has been working on a super secret Ghostbusters film. And today we have a little teaser trailer to go along with it, thanks to Entertainment Weekly. It’s real and it’s actually happening!
The teaser takes us into a creepy barn out in the middle of nowhere. Familiar music plays as sparks fly about from the barn. As we take a closer look, a broken proton pack bursts as we can see that someone’s tinkering on something. And that something happens to be the Ecto-1, the original car from the films. It’s a fast teaser, only a minute long. But it’s enough to get excited about the possibilities that will come about from the project. It will apparently be a sequel to the first two films.

So far only Reitman is attached as director and co-writer with Gil Kenan. He spoke about his excitement on the project. “This is very early, and I want the film to unwrap like a present. We have a lot of wonderful surprises and new characters for the audience to meet.” It’s unclear whether or not any of the original actors will be returning to the franchise. Though it’s pretty exciting to get another stab at it. And Reitman has one of the best claims to the franchise, given that his father Ivan Reitman directed the first two films. We’ll have to be watching this one carefully.
