Who’s Watching the WATCHMEN? HBO Will Be With New TV Series

Are you ready for another take on Watchmen? Well you’re in luck! THR is reporting that Damon Lindelof is working on bringing the story to the small screen. HBO has been watching the Watchmen for some time now…

Back in 2015, HBO was interested in obtaining the series. So much so they were even talking to Zack Snyder about it. For those who don’t remember, Snyder directed a feature film version of the DC comic series which garnered mixed reviews. It appears that HBO has not given up fighting for the series. However, it’s only in talks at the moment and a deal has not been reached.

Lindelof has just wrapped up his latest show, The Leftovers, that had been airing on HBO. It seems the powerhouse company wants to keep him on board and develop more projects. And with their other major money maker show, Game of Thrones, leaving soon, they’re definitely looking to fill some slots.

An HBO TV series of Watchmen could very much work. The story is filled with moral struggles and personal development of the characters. It’s a story that should be told in longer format, should it be made into anything outside the comic world. It’s characters need time to let us watch their journeys unfold. As good looking as the film adaption was, it wasn’t able to really develop more than a few characters. Maybe this could be the Watchmen fans have waited for.

What do you think of the news? Are you looking forward to a Watchmen TV series or do you think it’s impossible to do justice to the comic? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Watchmen news.
