I know it’s going to be on tomorrow but we now have a sneak peek into the The Flash/Supergirl musical crossover episode “Duet.”

The song, “Super Friend,” was written by Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) specifically for this episode. In fact, once she heard about the crossover, she offered her songwriting skills to the producers of the show.

Based on this video and the trailer for the episode, the Music Meister (Darren Criss of Glee, A Very Potter Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) has sent The Flash and Supergirl into an alternate dimension where they have to act out a story set in the 1920/1930s. The song “Duet” is really just an affirmation of how amazingly wonderful the friendship between Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) truly is.

Times like these when the life is getting me down and the world seems like it’s going to end…ship.
There’s at least one power that we both still have and that’s the power of friend…
Ship?

Perfect.

What’s going to be great about this episode, and you can see it from the sneak peek, is that not only will Grant Gustin (West Side Story) and Melissa Benoist be singing, but we will also get the musical talents of Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, West Side Story, Rock of Ages), John Barrowman (Sunset Boulevard, Putting it Together, Miss Saigon), Jesse L. Martin (Rent, The Government Inspector), Carlos Valdes (Once), and Victor Garber (Deathtrap, Sweeney Todd, Noises Off).

Fun fact: Carlos Valdes, a graduate of the University of Michigan, studied with actors from Starkid Productions, a theater group co-founded by Darren Criss, also a graduate from the University of Michigan. Small theater world.
