If you’re looking for some inspiration today, look no further than the ground you’re standing on. NASA made an incredible music video displaying Earth’s magnificence set to “The Sound of Silence” by Disturbed. The song is a cover of Simon and Garfunkel‘s “The Sounds of Silence”. Normally I don’t support covering Simon and Garfunkel because it rarely goes well. In this case, it’s truly amazing and gave me chills.

The video, made known to us by space.com, is made up of assorted satellite images taken from Earth’s orbit, compiled to compliment the song. The lyrics fit the images, and it’s truly beautiful. You see the drama of the sun coming over the horizon, the oceans, storms, cities (which, in their beauty, also present as scars; stories to tell) and deserts. Some of the images look barely earthly. They appear to be from some alien world. The diversity of this planet is truly a wonder.
So, take a moment to watch this video and reflect on the riches we have. Then take another moment to watch it again, like I did. It’ll slow your day down and inject perspective in the most wonderful way. Enjoy.
