Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for The Legend of Tarzan. Yesterday, the studio released images and the first poster . The film stars Alexander Skarsgard as the iconic character Tarzan and Margot Robbie as Jane along with Christoph Waltz, Djimon Hounsou, Samuel L. Jackson and John Hurt.
The teaser trailer features stunning imagery, a forboding score and the latest film incarnation of Tarzan, Alexander Skarsgard. He looks great, he’s in ridiculous shape. I only write that because his abs are featured in a great deal of the teaser. I have to say, I found one part very strange – Jane is being led against her will by the bad guys and you hear Tarzan’s yell (it’s more like a cry or a scream. A cry scream), and the look on Jane’s face is downright sexual. Maybe that’s their thing.
The story is different from the regular retelling of the Edgar Rice Burroughs’ classic. In The Legend of Tarzan, it has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
David Yates (Harry Potter films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) is directing the film which is set for release July 1, 2016.
