Warner Bros. revealed new release dates for several films today, including DC films, The Batman, The Flash movie Flashpoint, and Shazam 2! We already know Wonder Woman 1984 was pushed back to August 14, 2020. The push back is due to the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping across the globe. Filming halted on the sets of these films and with that came a shift in release dates: Here’s the rundown:
The Batman – October 1, 2021
The Flash – June 3, 2022
Shazam 2! – November 4, 2022
Deadline reports that a quarter of Matt Reeves’ The Batman film is shot. Reeves plans on returning to London to complete the film once it is safe to resume production. Flashpoint is the only move to move up by a month.
The announcement also included release dates for Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley movie, starring Tom Hanks and Austin Butler is set for November 5, 2021. The Sopranos prequel, The Many Saints of Newark will premiere March 12, 2021. Will Smith drama King Richard is moved back a year to November 19, 2021. And Lisa Joy’s sci-fi movie Reminiscence starring Hugh Jackman, Thandie Newton, and Rebecca Ferguson will debut on April 16, 2021.
It’s unclear when production on these films will start back up. You can bet that Geek Girl Authority will let you know as soon as we hear anything.
